After Rob Pelinka sent everyone in the NBA world into extreme shock yesterday, there is an update from LeBron James. The Chosen One was with his family having dinner in New York after defeating the Knicks when he found out that his teammate Anthony Davis had been traded. Believe it or not, the King found out just like the rest of us, from Shams Charania!

According to Dave McMenamin, Bron was processing what had just happened when he found out about AD leaving. And it looks like he is done gathering his thoughts after staunchly defying a head-lining report by Ben Reiter, who claimed that the 22-season veteran lost faith in AD. “You a fkn lie!!!” he posted. Hours later, James finally spoke out after the shocking trade between Dallas and LA.

Taking to Instagram, LeBron shared a heartfelt message for his ‘former’ scoring partner on his stories: “Love you my dog!! Go crazy over there!” He followed it up with, “Woe 4L! See you soon,” showing just how much he values their bond.

LeBron James’ story also featured a sad face emoji in the center, and below that he added a prayer emoji, handshake, and salute emoji. But all of this could’ve played out very differently… The lethal combo of AD and the Bron could’ve been together still. How, though?

The Mavs actually made an attempt to trade Luka Doncic for Giannis Antetokounmpo with the Milwaukee Bucks, as reported by Cris Davis! Read that again, however, “the Bucks had firmly rejected the proposal.” Fair enough, while Luka does have MVP potential, The Greek Freak has already done it twice and also led his team to a ring… Honestly, there may be only 5 modern-day players in this world you would want to trade Luka for, and the Greek Freak is one of them.

Anyway, moving on to what’s real, how would dynamics between Doncic and LeBron play out? Both of them have been the top dogs on their team for years. While that’s one of the many questions now, will the Lakers shock us one more time?

The Lakers are moving on from the LeBron James era

Did the Lakers make a mistake trading AD, or is this a smart move for the future?

LeBron’s era in Hollywood is coming to an end. It’s going to be Luka’s turn now in the heart of Hollywood! Paul Pierce, an NBA legend, threw out a bold idea that has fans buzzing. He suggested the Lakers trade LeBron and his son Bronny to the Cleveland Cavaliers. On X, he wrote, “Trade Bron and Bronny back to Cleveland, build around Luka. It’s the only way to save the Lakers.”

However, James doesn’t seem to agree with Pierce’s take. NBA Insider Chris B. Haynes reported that the King plans to stick with his current employers beyond the February 6 trade deadline. Haynes tweeted, “Sources: LeBron James intends to remain a member of the Lakers past the Feb. 6 trade deadline, and the relationships behind the blockbuster Luka-AD deal.”

But James staying back in LA isn’t only what’s needed. JJ Redick’s side now desperately needs someone who can handle the rim and stay on defense, consistently. Yes, Bron/ Luka could do that, but that would really be under-utilizing them in offense then. We’re all here to see the James-Doncic attacking linkup plays, aren’t we!? A case could be made for Jarred Vanderbilt, who’s quite a defense-first identity, while Dorian-Finney Smith could be utilized more as well. But then what about his 3&D wing duties?

That said, the offseason is a different story. If the Lakers and Cavaliers underperform in the postseason (a definite possibility), don’t be shocked if things get shaken up again. After all, who could’ve predicted the insane trade that sent Luka and AD packing? Now, more fans are warming up to Pierce’s outrageous idea, which seemed crazy just a few months ago.
