Every time the Warriors visit Charlotte, it brings back memories of Stephen Curry. After all, that’s his second home after the Bay Area. On Monday night, Curry will again have this homecoming, but the occasion feels a bit more special due to his brother Seth’s allegiance to the Hornets. But how long can he run back this special feeling? Probably not for long!
Amid the loud thuds of the basketballs filling the Spectrum Center, Curry was snapped back to reality by the approaching media. Ahead of the Charlotte showdown, the Warriors star has his own goals in mind to solidify their playoff spot. But nostalgia hits differently, and that’s what happened with Curry.
“Always great, good energy here. Looking forward to it… see family, see friends. I try to enjoy it to the fullest since it’s only one time I’m here. Still special, for sure,” Curry said about his return to Charlotte. Being aware of his career winding down to its final stretches, Curry acknowledged his retirement scenario. He doesn’t have many of these homecomings left in him. “It just paints the experience a little differently. I still have the same energy and juice, looking like, and excited coming back. But yeah, it’s a little bit more of a reminder to be present, because you don’t know how many more you’ll have left.”

The same can be said about Seth. When Steph ultimately hangs up his boots, there won’t be any more Steph vs Seth games. The two different journeys have the same roots and looking back on it, the 36-year-old couldn’t be anymore proud.
“It’s cool, because our journeys are so different, coming from the same city, the same school,” big bro Curry said. They have shared this court since Steph’s college days. Before the Hornets moved to the Spectrum Center in 2005, both the Curry brothers used to be present at the now-demolished Charlotte Coliseum, to watch father Dell play for the franchise. Both of them spent almost two decades in Charlotte and the battles over the years have significance to their lives. So the relationship with Charlotte dates long back.
“We played against each other, this will be the 19th time, I believe. Or maybe the 20th time. So just the idea that we’ve been blessed with successful careers, and this looks so different. But I’m super proud of him, the way that he’s battled his way through the injuries coming out of college, to battling around the league, to helping the Portland Trail Blazers team in the Western Conference Finals, and still doing it. So I always look forward to those battles,” Stephen Curry added.

At this point in the season, both teams are opposites. While the Warriors are vying for a playoff berth or even more, the Hornets are getting put to the swords by any team they face. The hypothetical white flag is pretty much visible atop the arena, and it will be a shame to not capitalize on the fallen franchise. Steph surely is aiming for that and his new running mate, Jimmy Butler, might as well if he’s cleared to play.
What’s your perspective on:
Can the Curry-Butler duo lead the Warriors to glory, or is it just a fleeting dream?

Stephen Curry clears stance on Jimmy Butler’s personality
There’s a saying: opposites attract, and the Warriors’ locker room is a live example of it. That is the summary of the Curry-Butler dynamic. With the meme of Chef finding a Butler being a much-celebrated one among the Dubs nation, the optimism is high. After the tough loss to the Sixers, this will be the perfect opportunity to react. And winning is everything for both Curry and Butler.

“He’s the guy that has clearly defined a style that impacts winning on both ends of the court. You can see how much he’s helped us so far, and it’s the polar opposite of how I play, so it’s a match made in heaven on that front,” Curry raved about Jimmy. “But he’s succeeded at the highest level behind the two finals, and he’s motivated more than ever to try to get better.”
In the 8 games Jimmy played for the Warriors, his box-crashing mentality and perimeter defense had a transformative effect on the team. The scoring burden could still fall on Curry and his hot streak is proving he has no problem with it as long as Butler does his job on the other end. Steve Kerr is very much reliant on this recipe, and it should be enough to overcome the Hornets. But will it be enough to go all the way? That’s one big question that needs to be answered. Everything apart, enjoy the Curry show before he takes a call on one sudden day.
