Iguodala then talked about the confidence he had in his abilities during the championship run. “I know the impact I had on the game, but I don’t need anyone to tell me that I did,” he stated, implying that he did not care much about the accolades.

Even previously, he talked about this on various occasions. As reported by Sports Illustrated, he initially believed that Stephen Curry deserved the 2015 FMVP over him. The lack of properly defined performance indicators caused this eight years ago as the opinions became heavily subjective.

Iguodala said that it was also the reason why the league never recognized him as a great defender. He shared, “I never made a first-team or defensive team,” pointing out the potential flaws in the metrics for judgment. Despite all this, when all was said and done, the 39-year-old’s efforts were finally widely appreciated.

Iggy joined the Golden State in 2013 with the hope of winning the championship one day. In the following season, he was moved to the sixth-man position from the starting line-up and served as the backbone of the Warriors for the next 5 years.

In 2015, he was extremely influential in the Finals series after the Warriors went down 2-1. In Game 4, Iguodala dropped his season-high 22 points from 8/15 field goals with four 3-pointers. This performance turned the series around and propelled him as a contender for the Finals MVP.
