Troublemakers are always the most entertaining personalities in their sport. Look no further than the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards. He’s always finding himself in the craziest situations and usually, it’s because of something he did. It’s riveting to watch yes, but our entertainment comes at a cost for Edwards.

He’s been fine 5 separate times this season, paying an insane $100,000 in December. All in all, Edwards has made the NBA $285,000 richer through his outlandish actions. And now, he’s landed himself in hot water again. During the T-Wolves’ game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Edwards received the ball at the edge of the scoring area and drove in. He then proceeded to make an outrageous dunk. One that Chet Holmgren, despite his shot-blocking prowess, just could not stop.

And in typical AntMan fashion, Edwards proceeded to celebrate right in the faces of the shocked OKC players’ faces. And this did not sit well with the bench. I mean, can you blame them? But in their rage, they nearly rushed the court. And later, their coach, Mike Daigneault, seemed to be talking the official’s ear off in protest. We now have reports that confirm Daigneault wanted Edwards to get a technical for his celebration. An opinion shared by the eight players on the Oklahoma bench.

Weirdly, Anthony Edwards is now the one who’s miffed with them. I just wish we could celebrate without getting a tech. Let dudes get in each other face and stuff. Talk a little trash without T’ing them up real quick. That’s my money being taken,” said Edwards about the Oklahoma players wanting to see him receive a technical.

Edwards has a point. There used to be a time when players used to beat each other right in front of officials. However, Edwards needs to realize that the times have changed. The league doesn’t abide by the same rough-housing rules it did in the 90s. But this kind of behavior seems to be ingrained in the 23-year-old’s behavior.

A brief history of Anthony Edwards’ fines this season

We did just tell you Anthony Edwards accrued 5 fines this season for a total of $285,000 this season. But we didn’t tell you what happened in those instances. So let’s change that.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Anthony Edwards' rebellious streak a breath of fresh air or a liability for the NBA?

Have an interesting take?

Anthony Edwards paid $100,000 in December last year, which is the highest fine he’s paid this season. He received such an insane fine after he swore on live TV. But if you’re thinking that’s a little harsh, then the NBA has an explanation. The league claimed they accounted for “Edwards’ history of using profane language during media interviews” in their statement.

They weren’t lying. He’d been fined $75,000 and $25,000 on two different occasions for the same thing earlier. But don’t think that these fines deterred the Ant-Man. He found himself at it again a month later, two weeks into the New Year. The T-Wolves star paid another $50,000 for making obscene gestures at an official. This wasn’t the first time he earned a fine for doing this. He paid the NBA $35,000 in November for making an obscene gesture on the court.

“I ain’t getting no more techs,” he promised. And so far he’s lived up to his words despite himself. But you never know when this streak will end as we head into the All-Star game.
