What can stop Stephen Curry? The Golden State Warriors star can shoot threes from anywhere on the floor. He can get a hole-in-one when he relishes his favorite activity of golf. And with Mr. Throwback, the Chef has extended his talents to being in front of the camera. But his child almost disrupted the entire project. How?
Curry’s schedule was always packed during the shooting of the mockumentary. Preparing for the Paris Olympics, the production team didn’t have much time with the four-time champion. That’s one of the reasons his contributions are quite limited in comparison to other actors in the series. However, his fourth child, Caius being born earlier than expected further squeezed their schedule according to SNL’s Ego Nwodim, one of the stars of the show.
“We shot all of Steph’s stuff in a very little bit of time. And it was the last stuff, because he was training for the Olympics and he just had a baby. Their little one came a bit early,” she told Variety.

Apart from the stinted filming schedule, the David Wain creation also had to be quick to produce the show. See, while the comedy starring Adam Pally was preparing to launch, Peacock was also broadcasting Curry playing at the Olympics Likewise, they had to capitalize on the opportunity to attract the viewers watching Curry’s basketball brilliance to the show. This compelled the team to ensure production was swift.
By the time Stephen Curry was knocking down threes in the semifinal, Mr. Throwback was awaiting the audience to get a glimpse of what the Baby Face Assassin looked like outside of the court.
Stephen Curry is coming to NBC
Given a large demographic of the viewers watching Mr. Throwback also watched Olympic basketball, the volume was staggering. Watching the immense success, NBC decided to bring the show to its network. In terms of its disposition, the mockumentary ranks top 5 among Peacock original comedy series based on its opening weekend viewership according to The Deadline. The move is to harness the show’s success on the streaming platform and give it access to a much larger audience.
To increase the gravity of being on NBC in a month, Stephen Curry took to Twitter to promote the show. “There is no room for slumps in this game. My new show #MrThrowback is out on @peacock #ad,” he wrote alongside a scene from his on-screen debut.
