“Send Bronny to the G League” or “Bring Bronny up”? Bronny James‘ basketball career has been nothing but a tug of war. While critics suggest the 19-year-old should sharpen his skills with the South Bay Lakers, former NBA great Dwyane Wade expressed a bold demand, “Bring Bronny up.” Is that truly what he believes would work for the Lakers? Wade offered his reasoning, but his opinion was quickly dismissed by another former star.
Wade justified his view on his YouTube channel by saying, “We want to see that… As a fan of the game, I’m not looking at the Lakers and saying they’re gonna win a championship… We want to see Bronny. This is not a championship team. This is not a championship roster at this point.” Wade believes that bringing LeBron’s 20-year-old son into the squad would help to improve his game now that the Lakers don’t have a chance of winning the title. When this discussion came up on Run It Back, Lou Williams made his stance clear.
“I disagree,” he argued. “This is the Showtime Lakers. They’re not known for developing talent. It’s not like he’s gonna come up and get an opportunity play a bunch of minutes where he can get that in game experience that he’s gonna get, with the G League team.” Lou pointed out that Bronny isn’t getting valuable minutes with the NBA team. His maximum playing time is just 5 minutes against the Grizzlies and Cavaliers. The 38-year-old emphasized that Bronny would have more opportunity to develop with South Bay, where he could get more consistent playing time.

“He’s learning valuable things about running a point guard, about being a 2 guard, being undersized, finding out ways that he can impact games, finding out ways that he could stick,” Lou stated. “Then by the time that he does come up to the Los Angeles Lakers, he can be a worthy guy on their basketball team that’s gonna earn his minutes. Now if you throw him in his mix now, you’re dealing with a team that’s still trying to find their place in this playoff run. There’s gonna be no minutes for him.”
Lou made a valid point, stating that bringing Bronny back to the team now could hinder his development. The young guard wouldn’t get significant playing time and would likely spend most of his time on the bench, which would limit his growth and experience. “They’re not gonna work him in the lineups. It’s not gonna be a decision that’s gonna be worthwhile for Bronny James if you bring him up now.”
Even though Wade has ruled them out of the title race, the Lakers are still aiming for the championship. And on a team with established players, Bronny wouldn’t get the opportunity to test his skills. “I don’t think that you throw him in that fire because you’re not gonna give him the minutes anyways,” Lou added.

Amid all the debate regarding his place on the team, one thing is clear: the franchise is reportedly not ready to part ways with him right now.
Insider sheds light on Lakers’ potential decision regarding Bronny James this trade window
There may be plenty of criticism surrounding Bronny James’ performance, but the Lakers are reportedly ready to be patient and wait for his development. Jovan Buha wrote, “Of course, Bronny James ($1.2 million) would not be included in a trade that doesn’t include LeBron, team and league sources told The Athletic.”

The franchise is reportedly more inclined to trade Gabe Vincent along with a veteran, but according to Buha, Bronny won’t be included in any trade package. This isn’t shocking, as the father-son duo are most likely to move together if they do leave the Lakers.
For now, the chances of the Lakers bringing Bronny into the NBA team remain slim. However, he will be called up when needed, unless GM Rob Pelinka and Co. decide to consider Wade’s suggestion.
