The former Warriors General Manager is close to joining ESPN as an ‘NBA Countdown’ analyst, as reported by the NY Post. He may engage in the match and player debates and scripted shows during the entirety of the upcoming season. This would be his first-ever role in the mainstream media after working with the Dubs for 12 years.
During his time with the Warriors, he was a central figure in talent acquisition and team building. He acted as a wonderful linker between the upper management and the team. His ability to keep the core of the franchise team intact was praiseworthy.
Like every other human, he also was not perfect. He had his differences with a few players, notably with Kevin Durant. At the same time, he was crucial in the growth of the Warriors trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. So, his choice of potentially joining ESPN surprised many as his role there might limit his abilities.
How is NBA Twitter taking the news?
When Bob Myers left the Warriors after last season, everyone expected him to take up another General Manager position. His return to the limelight received a bag of mixed reactions from NBA fans. Some were glad to see him back, while many mocked him for his decision to join ESPN as an analyst.
An NBA fan said she wants to see Bob but thinks he talks too much to be a part of the mainstream media.
Interested to see how this goes because he gives thoughtful and emotional answers that tend to go long when TV might give you 20 seconds to spit it out. To be clear, it?s GOOD when Myers and others have a chance to unspool their full thoughts, but TV times can be rigid.

The journalist Ron Kroichick replied that the writers such as him would rejoice in those insights.
Yep, those long/thoughtful/emotional answers are gold for writers, not so much for TV

Contrary to these comments, a majority of NBA Twitter space was unhappy with Myers’ decision to join ESPN. One fan questioned his preferences for that.

Some questioned whether this move is purely due to the paycheck.
No way he turned down the money he did for that?!?! What they paying him?
