Draymond Green is in the middle of a PR nightmare right now. The Golden State Warriors forward often makes controversial remarks, but his comments about why Karl-Anthony Towns missed the Dubs game may have crossed the line. However, instead of rescinding his comments, he’s chosen to double down on them. Even after learning the real, harrowing reason behind KAT’s absence.
Draymond Green claimed that Karl-Anthony Towns missed the Dubs game because he was ducking Jimmy Butler. Why? Green, thought it had something to do with the infamous 2018 scrimmage where Butler essentially bullied KAT. Why did he actually miss the game? Well, he was away because he and his girlfriend had lost someone close to them, but we’ll get to that.
Now, onto Green’s comments. A reporter informed him that KAT missed the Warriors game because he was at the funeral of his family friend. This is how Draymond replied, “Oh man. That’s unfortunate. I’m sorry to hear that. That sucks. But my comments that I made was what I heard..We all experience death in one way or another, and we’ll all experience it in the same way one day. So it’s unfortunate…But the Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis will go on.”

“This is one of those moments where I had to be there for my family and be there for the kids that lost somebody really special to them.” This is what Karl Anthony Towns told us when he rejoined the Knicks in LA after they lost in overtime to the Lakers. Fans were relieved to learn he was okay. But it also confirmed that something as silly as his being afraid of Jimmy Butler didn’t prevent him from joining the Knicks in the Bay Area showdown.

As soon as this came to light, the fans’ worry immediately turned into fury directed towards Draymond Green. Even veteran journalist Ian Bagley got into it, condemning the Dubs star for his “extremely irresponsible” comments. But his comments are tame compared to what the fans have said so far.

But it seems Towns has a constructive approach to this heart-wrenching situation for him and his family. “I know that if people were in my shoes, they’d be extremely joyful to have the problems that I have. So [I] just stay focused, and it’s made me a better man,” he said. We’re just glad you’re doing well, KAT. But do you feel Draymond Green went too far in doubling down on his prior comments?
