“He has used up most of the goodwill.” This was a recent fan comment. Draymond Green in a suit at TNT’s Inside the NBA table is becoming a regular scene. Of course, it isn’t his first time on TV. He was an analyst in the All-Star Game earlier this year. In fact, Green was considered a top broadcasting prospect being a natural. And that was what got him the multi-year deal by Turner in 2022. The 4x champion would make appearances on TNT as it aligns with his NBA schedule. Unfortunately, whatever factors made him a fan favorite seemed to have disappeared.

Since he joined the much-loved Inside crew, Green has been at the receiving end of much hate. The fact the foursome of Shaquille O’Neal, Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith, and Charles Barkley, could be disbanded as soon as the media rights deal is made with anyone other than Warner Bros. Discovery has also contributed to the whole dislike. Those four have been doing this for a long time and have developed a concrete chemistry. They are also aware of what the crowd needs.

However, of late, Draymond’s views and takes seem to have underlying pettiness, as popularly speculated on the internet. The Rudy Gobert comments were more than enough for viewers to get the gist! Their worry borders over Green, making what could very well be the TNT crew’s last dance a terrible memory rather than something to be cherished. In fact, NBA fans on Reddit have come forward with their opinions about Dray on Inside the NBAOne fan started a discussion on whether anyone aside from the Warriors fans is “enjoying the Draymond experience on Turner.” Many posted their replies with the majority favoring the ‘Nay’ than ‘Yay’. One individual commented, “I’m a big player apologist. I side with the player 90% of the time. But when dude said the fine money stopped players from being wealthy in retirement, I was like come on man you sound incredibly dumb.”

We don’t have to tell you that Green is treading an incredibly thin line with the fines. His on-court behavior this season alone got him more haters than it did in the past years. But his fine money claim is not without any base. For the Rudy Gobert incident alone, Draymond had to pay $769,704. Moreover, his total fines for 2023 add up to a staggering $1,655,479. That’s not a small amount, whether he deserved it or not.

Redditors clamor for taking “insufferable” Draymond Green off the Inside the NBA

With the veteran forward’s continued presence in TNT’s crowd-favorite show, many are hoping the NBC deal gets done as soon as possible. Just so that they wouldn’t have to watch DrayMagic and his analyst side. Here’s one user who said, “No. I truly don’t get why he’s being force-fed to us. Since the show’s done, I really hope his role is minimized in the final season.”

But another person, while they agree Green shouldn’t be part of the Inside crew, gives a realistic reason as to why he is, in fact, force-fed, as per our above user. “He’s been insufferable but I guess he has a large following between young warriors fans and his podcast listeners. The network should have opened their wallet for Kevin hart or something.”

The Draymond Green Show does have quite a lot of people subscribed, 119k to be specific. While it’s not anywhere near Paul George’s or JJ Redick’s (Old Man and the Three), Green’s immediate reactions to games or comments after big moments have made him popular. In fact, we would probably hear more about his opinion on a particular issue from his podcast than from his presser.

As for his fan following among young Warriors fans, Green’s presence on the court and his role as the floor general is something many look up to. There is no doubt that the Dubs need the defensive stalwart that Draymond is. The man is fearless, a little too much, perhaps? And you can imagine how that would appeal to the younger audience.

Another GSW fan admitted something that might resonate with quite a few. “I’m a warriors fan and I’m not enjoying Draymond being there. He has his own personal beef with some of the players and he takes away from the normaly fun and awesome banter of the crew.” Remember the Rudy Gobert mention earlier? That is probably one of the many examples.

And yes, the back-and-forth of Shaq and Chuck and their playful demeanor were aspects of the show that made it so dear to the public. With Green supposedly making it all about him, the very thing that the Inside the NBA stands for is neglected. Finally, a Golden State fan also came forward to speak on behalf of at least a part of the Dub Nation, it seems.

“Many of us Warriors homers are pretty done with Draymond at this point. He has used up most of the goodwill he generated earlier in his career at this point. Be it kicking dudes in the nuts in the finals, knocking out teammates, or just making sure to pick up two quick techs seemingly every game Steph takes off he is sort of shit despite his defensive wizardry.”

As a player, Dray is still one of the best defenders. Not to mention, a playmaking big. However, watching a despondent Stephen Curry when Green was ejected in a crucial Orlando matchup seemed to be the last straw.

Well, what do you guys think? Has Draymond Green poured water over a future broadcasting career with his unpopular opinions? Let us know your thoughts!
