Only 39% of LA Wildfires have been contained as of Friday evening. Big plus? That’s a 12% jump from Thursday’s status. LA is showing the fight in it but the danger is far from averted. Mass relief plans, along with a number of small relief drives are being carried out in LA to combat the grave situation.
While normalcy has resumed in the league after a handful of postponements due to the crisis, the NBA community is doing its best to aid the affected ones. Draymond Green’s wife, Hazel Renee, who has been vocal throughout the ordeal once again spoke out on the national disaster to show her unwavering support to the community.
Hazel posted a series of pictures on Instagram, offering a glimpse into the dire situation in the burning city. The images highlighted the calls for help, alarming circumstances, and the challenges the city and its residents are facing. Along with the photos, she crafted a heartfelt caption, expressing her empathy and encouraging the survivors to stay strong, letting them know she was there for them. “LA…Home…This has been the most devastating thing to watch in the city I love and call home burn in flames now filled with ash from places where love once dwelled,” she wrote sharing the same sentiment as many survivors of Los Angeles.

“The genuine fear we’ve all endured. My heart goes out to my closest friends, family, and strangers who have lost irreplaceable memories and everything in the blink of an eye. Know that I Am with you, STAY STRONG but be free to feel!” Hazel added. The 38-year-old didn’t forget to express her gratitude to the firefighters and “heroic neighbors” who are risking their lives to save others.
Hazel also sent her love and prayers to those who have been affected by the disaster, stating, “Still at a loss for words as our community remains under evacuation (still in the red zone).” She included the details of donation campaigns in her post, hoping that people would offer their support, especially to the residents of Altadena, during this difficult time.

Altadena is a working-class neighborhood that was one of the first in Southern California where the Black community could purchase homes. Now, the area has been reduced to ashes by the devastating fire. So, Hazel is urging people to offer any assistance they can to help rebuild and support those affected. While many are focused on helping, there is one particular industry that has turned a blind eye, and Hazel has strongly protested against it.

Hazel Renee protests against $1.7 Trillion Industry
The industry in question is the insurance companies in America. The issue came to light when actor Tyler Perry shared his concerns on his Instagram handle. His post highlighted a heartbreaking scene where a daughter was seen protecting her 90-year-old parents’ home with a hose after their insurance was canceled. This raised serious questions about the practices of these $1.7 trillion worth insurance companies, who have amassed wealth from people’s premiums, and now when their customers need help the most, they are declining to provide support.
“It’s DEVASTATING and down right NASTY!” Hazel commented on the post, expressing her outrage. This was truly disturbing for her, especially since she has been using her social media to raise awareness about the emergencies and offering help in her own way. To then witness such cruelty among humans was a painful reality for her.

Her strong presence, standing beside her own people and for the city she calls home, is exactly what’s needed from every survivor during this dark time. With hope and efforts, this dark phase will surely come to an end soon.
