The Warriors came into Madison Square Garden on Tuesday and humiliated the Knicks in their arena. Stephen Curry and Co. dominated all game and blew out the home team by twelve points. Of course, a major reason behind the Knicks’ disappointing performance was the absence of Karl-Anthony Towns, who was out due to personal reasons. But Draymond Green twisted the story on his podcast and told the world that KAT didn’t play because Jimmy Butler was in town. However, when the real reason came out, NBA World blasted the former DPOY for his “irresponsible” journalism.

It all started with Draymond claiming on his pod, “Some would say he didn’t play because Jimmy was in the building, I don’t know… Yeah, they said KAT ain’t played because Jimmy came into town and you know him and Jimmy had the infamous practice in Minnesota. That’s a thing. I don’t know.” Obviously, Green was referring to the infamous Timberwolves practice in 2018, when Butler teamed up with a bunch of G Leaguer’s and bench players, and absolutely decimated the Towns-led starters.

Even Jeff Teague, who was on the receiving end of Jimmy’s beatdown, revealed what happened that day on his podcast, “Jump the ball. He’s like, ‘I got KAT.’ I was like, ooh s—. Jimmy and KAT ain’t like each other… Jimmy’s like, ‘F— outta here! He’s trash!’ Steal the ball again. They go down and score. Jimmy started talking to the GM, everybody in the gym. ‘Y’all better motherf—— pay me! I’m like that!” With tensions rising in Minnesota and Jimmy clearly not seeing eye to eye with his teammates and management, he got traded to the Sixers soon after.

Well, Draymond believes Towns was dodging going head-to-head against Butler on Tuesday, which is why he sat out. However, he admitted that he did not have complete information, “I didn’t look that deep into it to figure out like what his injury was or nothing like that.” Turns out, the actual reason for KAT’s absence was far serious than Green claimed.

Karl-Anthony Towns’ Girlfriend reveals real reason behind missing Warriors’ clash as Draymond Green gets slammed

Amid Green’s comments, KAT’s girlfriend, Jordyn Woods made a cryptic tweet saying, “F— Cancer.” Obviously, this had the fans worried for the Knicks star’s health as many feared the worst. However, Woods later clarified with a detailed post, “Thank you for all of your prayers and concern. I had to bury one of the closest people to me yesterday after she lost her battle to breast cancer. Life isn’t always fair. She will be missed tremendously. 🤍🕊️”

Yes, Towns reportedly missed the Warriors game because he was busy comforting Jordyn after she lost her aunt to cancer. Sure enough, the hoop community was not pleased with Green making false claims without doing his research, as veteran insider Ian Bagley wrote, “Green casually throwing this out there on his platform without researching the situation is extremely irresponsible.”

What’s your perspective on:

Did Draymond Green cross the line with his comments on KAT, or is it just banter?

Have an interesting take?

Even other fuming fans chimed in, with comments like “This is so disappointing” and “When he finds out why he really was out he’s gonna feel like a dum—-.” One netizen also wrote, “I like Draymond as a player, but he’s awful as an analyst.” Apart from being a veteran player, Draymond is also one of the faces of NBA media, with his podcast and TNT job.

And that comes with the responsibility of providing the correct information to the viewers instead of just dishing out opinions. So, he should have asked around before claiming that Towns was trying to avoid Butler, when instead he was going through a difficult time in his personal life.

Moreover, Towns avoiding Jimmy does not make much sense because even though they had bad blood in the past, the Knicks star has moved on from it, as he said in an interview, “I think we at a cool spot. I can’t hold grudges. I ain’t got no time for that s—.” Also, KAT has faced Butler once before this season, when he was still on the Heat roster, and Towns dropped 44 points that night. So, there is no reason for him to skip a game just because Butler is in town. Outraged at Green’s comments, one Towns’ supporter wrote, “I hope KAT dominates GSW in a few days!”

Well, both teams will meet again next weekend in the Bay Area, and hopefully, KAT will be available to suit up that night so that he can prove he is not afraid of Butler, and silence Draymond.
