Draymond Green had the last laugh with his latest battle against KAT! Well, at least for now. With Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler on the court, DrayMagic decided to take the game-winning bucket himself. Poetically, he ran up the lane against Karl-Anthony Towns’ tightly knit defense to drop the dagger lay-up on him and pulled out the night-night celly. He didn’t stop at that. The 4x NBA Champ went on to rub it on his face with a post-game blurb while the big man walked off the court in disgust.
The beef started after Green’s controversial comment on Towns’ absence during the Dubs’ visit to MSG. The star forward implied that KAT was scared to face Jimmy Butler, saying, “Some would say he didn’t play because Jimmy was in the building.” Well, that’s a long story. Butler had a locker room entanglement with Towns and Andrew Wiggins during his short stint with the Wolves. He publicly pressed them for not playing “hard”.
Things have come a full circle. Seven years later, Draymond Green squashed the allegation on the Dominican big man, saying, “It was good to see KAT show up and play like that. He played hard, played well. He was physical. Probably the most physical I’ve ever seen him. Had some extra motivation.”

We might know where the “extra motivation” came from. Yes, after Green’s controversial statement on his podcast. Nevertheless, the Dubs star sounded as if he had grown past the beef with his encouraging statement. Meanwhile, Towns doesn’t seem to be happy with the way things have panned out, as live visuals sparked a Knicks locker room tension.

Did Draymond Green-KAT beef trigger Knicks locker room tension?
Towns and Green went after each other throughout the game. We can say that the Warriors veteran won most of the battles. At one point, the game came to a brief pause when the duo engaged in a heated verbal exchange. Even Green was impressed with the 7-footer’s indulgence in the game. At the presser, he added, “I like battles… I’ve never seen him like talking.”
On the other hand, Karl-Anthony Towns wasn’t impressed at all. Following the game, the big man rushed to the locker room while his teammates were still on the court. Importantly, the Knicks players weren’t just simply on the court. They went on to greet Draymond Green for his performance. Notably, Mikal Bridges and PJ Tucker hugged the Warriors forward and showed him some love.

What’s your perspective on:
Is Karl-Anthony Towns finally stepping up, or is Draymond Green still in his head?
Have an interesting take?
This only leaves us with one question. Will Towns let this slide? Or end up in a broken Knicks locker room? Come on, who appreciates a player who disrespected one of their star players right after the game? Yes, sportsmanship is at play, but how will this sit on the team’s centerpiece?
The Knicks are currently in a 2-2 record since Jalen Brunson’s ankle injury. So, it directly means that the Knicks have to rely on KAT until he returns. With the postseason around the corner, a locker room rift is the last thing a 3rd seeding team would want. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
