Amid Klay Thompson’s trade rumors, Draymond Green seemed unsure of the 4x champion’s run with the Dubs. Following the heartbreaking end to the Golden State Warriors 2023–24 campaign, trade rumors have taken over the Bay Area. Especially with China Klay yet to sign his contract extension, the famous Dubs trio has been on the brink of a break-up. Above all, Green remained doubtful of Klay’s return amid a positive update.

Ahead of the 2024 NBA Finals, a trade update on Klay Thompson took over the NBA world. A Bleacher Report article predicted that the 34-year-old will remain with the Dubs with a $46 million worth two-year contract. Despite the update, Green went on air, speaking about Thompson with an unenthusiastic stance. In the latest episode of The Draymond Green Show, speaking of Thompson, Green said“It’ll be very important for us to try to get Klay back… If Klay decides not to come back then what does it look like… Swinging to try to get another big guy… I just think there are some decisions that have to be made for us. I trust our front office, our coaching staff will make the right decisions.”

Nevertheless, Draymond Green still showed some hope when he said, “I think we still got a small window to make something happen.” He further believed that the Dubs organization would honor the trio by providing another opportunity to win another ring. While Green has vocally spoken about the ticking time bomb situation in the Dubs franchise, Thompson has yet to spill the beans. The last time Klay Thompson donned the Dubs jersey wasn’t a great night. He went scoreless after going 0-10 FG in a do-or-die game to qualify for the postseason. And before he left for the locker room, the sharpshooter was seen soaking in all the boos from the crowd, indicating a final walk in the Dubs thread.

Well, there isn’t a definitive answer to the question. But the Warriors star has already declined an offer in January. While the Bleacher Report article stated that Thompson would agree to a $46 million contract in the off-season, he has already declined a similar offer. In January, the Warriors reportedly offered a $48 million extension for two years, which he declined.

Along with that update, another report stated that China Klay has allegedly developed a “strained relationship” with Joe Lacob. Apart from that, he also had several humiliating scenes in the season. After a poor run at the start of the season, Steve Kerr pushed him to the bench. However, he embraced the role and didn’t consider it an insult.

He added, I never looked at coming off the bench as a demotion… I’m been in this league a long time and to still be contributing at a high level… you got to be grateful for that.” Above all, he also once said that he wanted to retire as a Dubs player. Considering the amount of trade rumors coming his way, will he stick to that statement? What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
