With Mike Brown as their head coach, the Kings were struggling to stay afloat. But they have miraculously turned their season around since the former Coach of the Year got fired last month and Doug Christie took over as the interim head coach. He has led De’Aaron Fox and Co. to ten victories in twelve games, bumping them to the seventh spot in the West standings. Their latest win came last night against the Warriors. However, Draymond Green already knew this was a possibility and even warned his team about it!
Discussing Christie’s instant success in Sacramento on The Draymond Green Show, the veteran forward said, “I’m not surprised at all. You know what they’re capable of. And I think Doug has probably made those small fixes with practice and you know, more Malik Monk minutes.” Yes, Green believes the Kings were struggling under Brown’s leadership because he had “lost the guys” likely due to their practice schedule. But Doug has fixed those minor issues, motivating his team to “play hard.”
Moreover, he has made Monk a permanent starter, which has done wonders for the team. Giving him more minutes has upped his averages to 17.7 points and nearly six assists. “I think he’s just done some things that, yeah minor tweaks that was right there with them, right there in their face.” Draymond added. Well, the Kings always had the talent to be a great team. Green even reminded his viewers that this was the same squad that took them to a seven-game series two seasons ago. And adding DeMar DeRozan to the mix has only made them better.

Sure enough, the Kings proved their resilience last night as they muscled a miraculous comeback against the Warriors after trailing by seventeen points in the first half. And Steve Kerr blamed the embarrassing loss on one major mistake, “TURNOVERS!”
Steve Kerr details crucial Warriors’ mistake after Draymond Green predicts a bright future for Doug Christie
Well, the Bay Area franchise turned the ball over nineteen times yesterday as compared to only eight times by their opponents. Sure enough, that was the key reason they blew their lead and lost the game by six points. Kerr admitted the mistake postgame, “Second half, we lost our poise. Other than maybe two or three plays where they trapped Steph and got a deflection, I thought almost every turnover was unforced. But sometimes when you get sped up, you make poor decisions. And I thought that happened.”

Obviously, the Warriors cannot afford to make such mistakes against an elite team like the Kings. Especially considering the run Christie is on. Even Draymond acknowledged his impact on the entire squad during his podcast ahead of the game, “You got guys playing hard for you… When you got guys look like they playing for you, that go a long way.” Moreover, he predicted a bright future for the veteran coach, “Doug, keep it up and he gonna find himself with a job moving forward.” With the success he has had as an interim head coach, Christie might soon take over that position in a permanent role. All he needs to do is keep helping the Kings win and climb the standings. Meanwhile, Steve Kerr needs to figure out a way to not repeat the same mistakes his team made against the Sacramento squad.
