Draymond Green’s basketball tactics get him into the focus but his on-court antics are the primary reason for his space in the headlines. He recently swung his arm as he punched Jusuf Nurkic in the face in the battle against Phoenix Suns. Golden State Warriors were leading the game but after Green’s act, the Warriors slowed down to lose the game. Nurkic after the match had said that Draymond Green needed help.

Draymond apologized but said that he did not intend to hit Nurkic’s. He has been put under indefinite suspension as a result. Though many are surprised over the on-court theatrics of Draymond it was Rudy Gobert who came with the ‘who will bell the cat’ call.

Earlier he was suspended for five games as he held Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert in a chokehold. Gobert too recently shared that he has empathy for Green. Rudy said that he did not want anyone to get hurt inside the court. Rudy said as reported by ESPN, I’m not sure what that really means, so it’s hard to tell. I mean, you don’t want someone to get badly hurt. You’ve got to fix that. That’s it.”

Draymond often attacked Rudy online. He held him in a chokehold when Gobert held Warriors’ Klay Thompson to pacify an altercation with Minnesota forward Jaden McDaniels. After the 119-101 win over the Dallas Mavericks, Gobert opined that harsh measures by the league against Draymond were necessary. However, he didn’t seem fit to opine over his indefinite suspension. He shared that he has empathy for Draymond and stressed the need for caring for someone who is not well inside. Gobert said, “You see somebody that’s not well inside and suffering. You take away the game and all that, and you want somebody to be well and be able to do what we do every night and compete and be happy.

Further, he added that having Green on the court may be harmful to the players given the unsportsmanlike behaviour of Green. Rudy said as reported by ESPN, I’m not sure what that really means, so it’s hard to tell. I mean, you don’t want someone to get badly hurt. You’ve got to fix that. That’s it.”

But the behavior of Draymond Green is bothering outsiders alone. The teammates of Green too seem to be deeply concerned.

Warriors response to Draymond’s suspension

Draymond Green’s behavior has been bothering the Warriors for quite some time. After the loss of the Warriors to the Sacramento Kings, Steph Curry had a message for Green returning from a five-match suspension. Green received a technical in the match and Steph Curry asked him to continue to be passionate but not get distracted.

The coach of the Golden State Warriors Steve Kerr made a compassionate call for Draymond to gather himself. For someone like Draymond who has established his basketball credentials, Kerr wanted him to change as a person. Kerr said, “It’s about helping Draymond. It’s an opportunity for Draymond to step away and make a change.”
