While the Boston Celtics did move on to the Conference Finals tonight after completing the Gentleman sweep against Cleveland, the game might have shown a lingering weakness in their defense. With their star Center, Kristaps Porzingis out for the entire series because of a calf strain, the opponents were constantly seen picking on veteran Center Al Horford in the pick-and-roll action. And when Draymond Green, who was working his TNT analyst gig tonight, asked Jayson Tatum how they would be handling that issue going forward, the ‘biased opinion’ rubbed Horford’s sister the wrong way.

Reminding Tatum they will likely be facing more dynamic guards in the next series, possibly someone like Jalen Brunson, Dray was curious about ‘the plan’. Displaying full confidence in his teammate’s abilities, Tatum responded, “We trust everybody, especially Al.” While Tatum handled Draymond’s question like a pro, Al’s sister Anna Horford took offense, considering it as disrespect to her brother, and called Draymond out on X, “Draymond is a f**king hater. Biased opinions are weak opinions. Get him off the TV @NBAonTNT.”

It was obvious why Anna was enraged because it was not the first time tonight that Draymond pointed out Horford’s weakness. Claiming that Horford was “getting cooked” by the undermanned Cavs squad in the pick and roll, Draymond made a similar statement during the halftime show. Despite missing Donovan Mitchell and Jarrett Allen, Cleveland put up a commendable fight against Boston in the first half. And a lot of it was because of Darius Garland and Evan Mobley decimating Horford with the two-man game. But Horford did make a decent comeback in the second half and finished with twenty-two points while also adding fifteen boards and three blocks to his stats.

Are the Celtics really in trouble?

“They gotta get Porzingis back if they are gonna compete for a Championship.” Siding with Barkley’s opinion during the show, Dray gave his final thoughts about Al Horford’s defense. Unfortunately, the Latvian star is still nursing his calf injury and his team is still waiting for a timeline on his return.

His addition to the team is one of the major reasons the Celtics finished so high in the standings. Averaging over 20 points during the regular season and also doing wonders on the defensive end, Porzingis definitely looked like the missing piece that would finally get Boston over the hump.

Slowly but steadily, Porzingis is making his way to a full recovery as earlier today the seven-footer shared an image of him shooting around in the gym. So, there is a chance that we might see him soon in the next series.

But until then, Al Horford will need to hold ground for the Celtics and get a lot better at dealing with the pick-and-roll. With players like Brunson, Luka, and Jokic still in the running to win the title, the competition will only get tougher going forward. And the Celtics cannot afford to have any weakness in their defense against teams of that caliber. Up until now, Boston has only gone up against the teams who were undermanned and their best player was missing because of injury. So, even though Horford’s sister did not like what Draymond said, he might have a point about what the future holds for the team in green.
