Draymond Green Goes AWOL After BFF Jayson Tatum Ends His Boston Celtics Slander

After 16 years, the Celtics have finally broken the deadlock. Jayson Tatum and Co. slaughtered the Mavs in Game 5 to collect a record 18th title in franchise history. The TD Garden was rocking, almost shaking the ground beneath. Boston were the favorites all along, and they got the job done. However, there were some who doubted the Celtics. Draymond Green was one of them. After being proven wrong, though, he was nowhere to be found. Why and how did that happen?

Green has been a consistent presence in the media for the past few years. He even runs his podcast to discuss the happenings around the league and give his insights. The 4-time champion was scheduled to have a podcast with Shawn Marion, a 2011 champion with the Mavericks following Game 5. However, for an undisclosed reason, he announced the segment was “canceled” on his Instagram stories. The timing seems questionable.

Notably, Green has been a believer of the Mavericks since they battled the Oklahoma City Thunder in the second round of the playoffs. While on TNT, he professed “Dallas, to me, is the team that looks the most ready to go. They’ve got Luka and Kyrie. When Luka can’t get it going, Kyrie seems to always get it going. They know what it takes to win. Especially Kyrie winning a championship. And they’ve got all the pieces to do it”. Additionally, Green is yet to congratulate Tatum, one of his good friends from the league. The defensive machine even invited the Celtics ace to his wedding held in 2022.

Given Draymond Green’s reputation, it doesn’t seem like pettiness or the fact that his take was proven wrong would stop him from admitting so. He has owned up to his mistakes in the past and embraces taking accountability even as an athlete. He revealed that the reason for the cancellation will be revealed in his next podcast episode. As fans, waiting for clarification is the only option.

For all of Tatum’s 7 years, there has been scrutiny and criticism towards him. At just 26, he had made 4 consecutive conference finals and even had an appearance on the grand stage two seasons ago. Yet, experts chose to pick on his shortcomings rather than acknowledging his terrific resume for a seven-year forward. Moreover, they also began to doubt his fit beside Jaylen Brown. This was when the Celtics were barely a few steps away from winning a championship season after season. It didn’t faze them, though.

The duo remained strong, forged a brotherhood, and finally celebrated the taste of glory together. At the press conference, the Duke alumnus let out his emotions once and for all. “These last seven years have been a rollercoaster. Up and down. I had to listen to all the s**t that people said about me. Tonight, it was worth it. Oh my God,” Tatum exhaled after securing his maiden Championship.

Even now, there are going to be people who look down on him for missing out on the Finals MVP honor. There might even be comments about his passive role during the first half of the Finals. However, at the end of the day, it’s all just chatter for Tatum, whose goal was to bring a title to the only city he has known in the past seven years. To do it by dropping 31 and closing out the series was enough to prove that Jayson Tatum is indeed an emphatic talent who could succeed tremendously in the years to come.
