The NBA was reminiscent of a Mortal Kombat event on November 14th, with two fights breaking out on the same day. One such fight was between the Golden State Warriors and the Minnesota Timberwolves. And not even two minutes into the game and a point scored, three players were ejected from the game. It started with Klay Thompson and Jaden McDaniels grabbing each other’s jerseys. However, Rudy Gobert, who went in to de-escalate the situation, found himself in a chokehold for several seconds by Draymond Green.

When asked about the scuffle, Rudy called Draymond’s actions “clown behavior.” Due to Green’s actions, the league slapped him with a five-game suspension, taking into account his history of unsportsmanlike behavior throughout the years. However, not only is he back from suspension, he is back with answers.

After the game, Rudy narrated his version of the events, calling out Draymond Green for getting ejected intentionally since Stephen Curry was sidelined due to a knee injury. According to Gobert, he knew this was how it was going to play out even before the game started. He explained that Draymond always tries to get an ejection when Steph is missing from the lineup. In an interview with The Athletic, Gobert added, “Just clown behavior.”

During a recent press conference, Green was questioned about whether he was aware of Rudy’s comments. He offered a 7-word response, saying, “I mean, it’s 2023. You see everything.”

However, when asked to give his two cents on Rudy’s statementsDrayMagic was left tight-lipped for several seconds. He then broke his silence by adding, “No comment is a comment. Right? Cool.”

Will Green be able to keep his cool in the next matchup?

Draymond Green’s suspension only added to the Warriors’ woes this season. They went 2-3 in the absence of their defensive stalwart, dropping to 10th place in the West with an 8-9 record. The Golden State will now face off against their last-season playoff rivals, the Sacramento Kings, on November 28th for an in-season tournament game.

This is another game that will test Draymond’s patience due to the history between him and Domantas Sabonis. Last season, during Game 7 of the playoffs, Green faced a one-game suspension after stomping on Sabonis’ chest.

Speaking of the upcoming matchup, Dray remarked that the contest will be as thrilling as a Game 7 playoff game.

“I think it’ll be fun, a lot of fun. I think it’ll be a lot like Game 7. The atmosphere, the people, the excitement, the angst. The feeling that I’m expecting is that it’ll feel like a Game 7.”
