Tyrese Maxey stepped up on the Philadelphia 76ers‘ season-long belief in replacing James Harden with his talents. As Joel Embiid put up a level triple-double with 19 points, 10 assists, and 16 rebounds, the 23-year-old led the Sixers in Game 4 against the New York Knicks. Maxey posted 46 points and 9 assists, all while gunning down a quick long ranger from the logo to push the game into overtime.
NY led the series 3-1 and was deemed to advance to the next round. However, Maxey went head-to-head with Jalen Brunson in overtime as the two teams battled, ultimately sending the game home with his free throws. Now, as the 76ers celebrate a potential revival of their season, it leaves Draymond Green’s remarks about the void in the franchise’s lineup to dust.
Moments before the game at MSG, Green went to X, citing the 76ers players’ inability to step up in the elimination game. He quipped, “Half of Philly guys competing and half has quit. Who pulls who”

Now, Green, alongside the entire NBA world, has the answer. Despite Joel Embiid’s tricks, Philly have failed to contain the fireworks by the Knicks for the entire series. However, Maxey’s heroics provided the much needed energy to the roster this time around. Thanks to that, the team came together to outplay the Knicks in overtime, posting a 15-9 advantage.

However, Maxey’s most crucial points came near the end of regulation. He scored or assisted on 11 final points. Before turning tables in the game with his logo-shot, Maxey sank an and-1 three with nearly 24 seconds left in the game, keeping th game under Philly’s grips.
Tyrese Maxey’s surge enabled Joel Embiid to remain fresh
Joel Embiid‘s 19 points are the lowest he has scored this series. Regardless, it did not culminate from shooting troubles or a lack of creating scoring opportunities but was a pre-planned display. Embiid player lesser minutes through the initial 3 stretches when compared to previous 4 games, rendering him fresher than ever in the final quarter. While that helped Sixer outrebound the Knicks, it also helped the visiting team to craft moments of efficiently sharing the ball.

Nevertheless, the Knicks were not too far behind. Their superstar guard Jalen Brunson posted 40 points. However, his fellow shooting teammates faced an off-night, opposed to Tobias Harris (7-11) and Kelly Oubre Jr. to impact the game; while Nicolas Batum asserted himself on defense.
The Sixers will now take the series home. Both the teams will now face the true tear of the playoffs, as game 6 will is aligned for tomorrow, giving both teams little to no rest. The Knicks currently lead the series 3-2 while the Sixers hope to even it out in Wells Fargo.
