How time flies. It feels like just a few days ago that the new NBA regular season began, and now we’re quickly approaching the glittering month of February. What’s special about this month? Well, every NBA fan eagerly waits for the February weekend when their favorite players come together for the epic East vs. West All-Star Game. However, this time, there will be even more twists and drama Adam Silver and his officials have made sure of that with the changed format. So, if you haven’t voted yet for the players you want to see in this exciting matchup, now’s the time. Draymond Green‘s wife, Hazel Renee, has already given a reminder for it. Looks like the Greens could be planning something big this season, with the All-Star tag being just one step toward it.

On her Instagram story, Hazel wrote, “AND DON’T FOTGET TO CLICK BELOW!!!” at the bottom was a link to the official site along with “VOTE DRAY FOR ALL STAR” written. In between that, she put up a post about her husband’s recent milestone. A Warriors history. Draymond shot three 3-pointers against the Suns on Saturday night forcing former Warrior Jason Richardson to give up his third position on the franchise’s all-time 3-point scorer list to the 34-year-old.

Draymond has suited up for the star-studded game four times, but this season, his wife is cheering louder. The reason? Remember when the veteran forward expressed his desire to be in the DPOY discussions two months ago? The two aren’t directly connected but the All-Star selection will definitely help his case. Draymond is certainly aiming to replicate his performance from the 2016-2017 season. And if that wasn’t clear enough, he even spoke about it openly.

Draymond Green’s sheds light on his bigger goal

If there’s an OG in the current crop who has done it all defensively, it’s definitely Draymond Green. Apart from the team trophies, Dray has enough of his own to flaunt and the most important one to him is the Defensive Player of the Year title that he was given in 2017.

There’s no two ways about Draymond’s defensive skills. After all, he is called the defensive mastermind of the Warriors. So all he wants is just to be considered in that list again. “I spent all summer listening to people talk about Chet [Holmgren] and [Victor] Wemby and what they’re doing defensively. Don’t forget about Dray,” the Warriors forward said. And further added, “I want to be in that [DPOY] conversation as well, and I think I’ve earned the right to at least be in the conversation.”

What’s your perspective on:

Can Draymond Green still dominate defensively, or is his All-Star dream just wishful thinking?

Have an interesting take?

However, given the current situation of the Warriors, that does seem like a difficult task. When Draymond won the title last time, he averaged 2 steals, 1.4 blocks, and 7.9 rebounds per game and had also appeared in the All-Star game. But the Warriors were in a different form that season, ultimately winning the championship title. This season, he’s averaging 6.3 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and a block per game but the team is struggling with a 16-15 record.

If he gets selected for the game on February 16th, his name will at least be included in that conversation, like he wanted. Whether that happens depends entirely on the voters. So, make sure to choose wisely. After all, who can add more drama than Draymond Green?
