Bronny James left the NBA World in a frenzy after entering his name in the 2024 NBA draft while also entering the NCAA transfer portal to maintain college eligibility. LeBron James’ older son made the shocking announcement on Friday through an Instagram post. Since then, Bronny has faced a ton of criticism on the internet for not being NBA-ready and taking advantage of his father’s connections to enter the league. Amid all that, Draymond Green has backed analyst Colin Cowherd’s comments defending Bronny by highlighting the fans’ hypocrisy.
In an episode of The Herd, Colin Cowherd addressed the people who claim the only reason why Bronny would get drafted in the NBA is because of LeBron. Cowherd called out the critics by pointing out the double standards in their nepotism accusations. “I’m sorry. But the same people outraged by connections are the ones that constantly seek getting their kids ahead through connections”, he said. Warriors star Draymond Green echoed that stern message and shared the video on his Instagram story.
Green wrote, “Say it louder for the people in the back Colin! And he puts the work in!”.

Cowherd also revealed that many people have approached him throughout his career to get their kid an internship on Fox. Many people also use any means necessary to get their children into college despite them being underqualified. “It’s the way the world works,” he added. He gave multiple examples of players getting professional opportunities because of their family ties.

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s brother Thanasis has been a part of the Milwaukee Bucks since 2019 but hardly gets any playing time. The same can be seen at the collegiate level. UConn head coach Dan Hurley’s son Andrew is a benchwarmer for the Huskies. We’re not accusing anyone of anything but just emphasizing Cowherd’s point that it is the way “the world works”.
Draymond Green’s advice to Bronny James
There is a high chance of Bronny getting drafted into the NBA this year. But it’s safe to say he is nowhere close to being the best prospect in the 2024 draft class. The USC guard had an underwhelming freshman season, averaging only 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. So, he will have a lot of work to do once he enters the league. In an interview with Andscape’s Marc J. Spears, Draymond Green had great advice for LeBron’s son and all the other youngsters looking to start their NBA journey. “Find you a great vet because there’s no one that’s going to show you more, teach you more, mentor you more, care more than a great vet.”

Draymond highlighted the importance of a veteran leader in a player’s early development. A good vet will help Bronny learn the ways of the NBA and deal with the responsibility that comes with being an NBA player. That should be an easy transition for the 19-year-old, as he already has a great veteran leader at home. LeBron James is one of the most talented and dedicated players in NBA history, and he will surely transfer his wisdom to Bronny once he makes it to the league. Hopefully, LeBron’s leadership and Draymond’s advice will help Bronny turn into a decent NBA player and silence his critics for good.
