You thought Draymond Green was only laying the groundwork to steal Chuck’s job? His agenda to show up at TNT today was to get closer to the shiny stuff. The very shiny piece of metal he has felt four times. Behind the scenes of his recent side-gig at TNT, Draymond Green got up close and personal with the Larry O’Brien Trophy. After the Warriors made an early exit in the play-ins, Dray’s hopes to win the fifth chip this season ended. But he still got his moment with the trophy.
He flaunted his close proximity to the trophy on Instagram with the ease of someone who didn’t have to break a sweat to get near it. “I didn’t even have to break my body down this playoff season to get Larry Legend.” Are Jokic and KAT jealous yet?
Work smarter, not harder might be his new motto since the Inside Guys sent the Dubs fishin’. Skipping Cancun, Green has swiftly chosen to walk himself into Studio J to make Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley fear for their job security. (Which is at its peak with a potential NBC takeover and reportedly why Shaq and Chuck skipped work today.) The NBA championship trophy is also on a tour of its own. After the Miami Grand Prix, visited by more than a few NBA champions, it’s now in the house of TNT.

Green didn’t let us miss Shaq and Chuck, fitting in with the makeshift Inside the NBA panel with ease. Perhaps seeing his future and rubbing the trophy without killing himself on the court is enticing to the podcaster for a future sportscasting gig.
Draymond Green brings playoff energy everywhere
One of the highlights of the Inside Guys is to trash-talk the Knicks. Something Dray did when he called their winning streak a fluke which rubbed Knicks fans the wrong way. Since he’s on the show, one superfan and comedian, Tracy Morgan took the opportunity to confront him. After emphatically expressing his love for Dray, Morgan warned him New York has something the Bay Area doesn’t. “This is the home of King Kong, this is where he died. This is how we get down.” He told him to not talk crap about his team, once again told him he loved him and left after that mic drop. That’s how it’s done, Dray.
Also, a must-do when you’re in Studio J is making Barkley miserable even if he’s not around to witness it. The duo have the most hilarious love-hate relationship, best seen at the All-Star Weekend. During a discussion on the Knicks, Dray saw an opening to comment, “Chuck is clearly not the bus driver,” referring to the comment Chuck made at Kevin Durant once; which read, “If you ain’t driving the bus, don’t walk around talkin’ bout you a champion!”
The championship trophy, superfans giving burns, and bickering analysts, Draymond Green’s TNT gig had everything a playoff does. Something tells us he might be lured into making it a regular thing.
