Just when things were beginning to be calm, the Philadelphia 76ers came up with yet another addition to their roster. They signed Lester Quinones, who was coming off a year after appearing in 37 games for the GSW. The trade happened just five days ahead of media day and training camps. Even if the trade just happened a day ago, rumors started to float for a long time. And coming off with a lot of losses, Warriors’ Draymond Green had his own way to bid adieu to yet another ‘Warrior’.
Green took to Instagram stories soon after Lester’s trade was finalized, and shared, “Go make the next one even more special!”. The story Green shared was actually posted originally by Lester himself, with a carasoul of multiple images of the Warriors players, with the caption, “End of a chapter but just the beginning of da story”.
Given the intense season these men had, every single photo the 23-year-old posted tells a story of its own, making it that much more special. But it wasn’t just Draymond Green who wished the New York native the best wishes for his future.

Former Warrior, Chris Paul had a lighthearted yet important message for the rising star. “Congrats killa!! It’s still CHICKEN!” followed by fingers crossed and a fist pump emoji. The veteran guard was no doubt speaking from experience of the importance of staying grounded, no matter the success that is bound to follow.
Another was his teammate, Trayce Jackson-Davis, who commented, “Brother,” followed by a heart emoji. Closer in age than the above two, it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that the two cultivated a close relationship, as well. Aside from them, friends and fans also came forward to congratulate him.
The 23-year-old, Quinones spent the first two seasons of his NBA career with the Warriors, averaging 4.2 points in 10.0 minutes per game. He’s been a great addition to the G League as well in the last two seasons where he averaged 21.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists on 44.8 percent from the field.

The Sixers’ interest in the Dominican-American guard was quite solid, it would seem. A team can only have three two-way players on the roster. Given Philly already filled theirs with Jeff Dowtin Jr., Justin Edwards, and David Jones, the only solution was to let go of someone. And that someone ended up being Jones, per NBC Sports Philadelphia. Michael Scotto of HoopsHype noted the franchise’s interest in the G League player in early July. And why wouldn’t they?

Lester Quinones had showcased impressive performances with Santa Cruz. The most remarkable was his career-high 46 points en route to a 132-129 win over SLC. But what made it even more iconic was the young hooper scored 21 straight points in the fourth quarter! His versatility as a shooter is no doubt going to provide that spark off the bench as and when the Sixers need it. He has shown promise as a three-point shooter, both in SCW and the Warriors – a career 36.5% and 37.0% per game, respectively.

More importantly, Lester Quinones’ willingness to do all the little things that do not really come up in a stat line makes him that much more valuable. Here’s to a great future for the 23-year-old!
