“….they build you up, they don’t break you down.” These were Jimmy Butler’s indirect dig at his then-boss Pat Riley. And honestly, moving on from past relationships can be easier in real life than in the NBA, especially if the split was bitter — then, Lord have mercy. That’s somewhat the case with Jimmy Butler. We all know how his time ended with the Heat. It was a cold war between him and President Pat Riley, with frequent suspensions and bold remarks often making headlines. Amid all of this, Jimmy’s trade to Golden State felt like an escape from the claustrophobic environment the East Coast had become for him. Now, when he’s in a healthier state, it’s time for him to revisit Miami. So, what’s going on in his mind? His new teammate gave us a glimpse of that.
The Warriors are on the road for a six-game trip, and the most eye-catching game isn’t against the Lakers, but the one against the Heat on Tuesday. No surprises there. After all, it’s Jimmy’s first time facing the Heat this season. Speaking about it on The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis, the former player pressed Draymond to spill what Jimmy had discussed about the showdown at Kaseya Center. Are you ready?
The Warriors vet quickly replied, “Jimmy has not said a word about it.” But then he shared his conversation with Trayce Jackson-Davis, where they talked about how there are two types of people. The first one “that doesn’t say anything and, it means a lot to him, but they just don’t say anything,” and the other type is like, “I’m going to get this.” Then, reflecting on which type Jimmy belongs to, Draymond added, “We all know Jimmy’s mentality. He’s going to be on 10. What I’m excited to see is, is he going to be the guy that lets everybody else know and, meaning us around him here on 10, or is he just going to walk in there on 10 and you, everybody fall in line.” Given his nature, it was never hidden from anyone what went through his mind, and who heard it better than the Heat locker room?

Jimmy Butler is bringing his A-game against the Warriors, dropping 17.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 6.4 assists in every game he’s played. And against the Heat, expectations are even higher for him to be in top form. After all, the 6-time All-Star certainly has a lot to prove to Riley.

Giving his opinion on what the atmosphere might be like when the team visits Kaseya Center, Draymond believes it will be a great showdown. And it’s not just because of Jimmy Butler, but also his former teammate.

Draymond Green talks about Andrew Wiggins’ impact on the Kaseya Center’s atmosphere
The spotlight on the blockbuster trade between the Warriors and Heat shone so brightly on Jimmy Butler that some overlooked that the San Francisco side lost Andrew Wiggins. But not Draymond. Now, as the team prepares to face Miami, he believes the ambiance will be electric, with the Canadian swingman in the mix.
“I think the atmosphere is going to be a great atmosphere because Wigs is going to come and Wigs is going to want to team play great,” Green claimed. They’ve played together for over four seasons, so the 35-year-old knows that Wiggins will bring something special to the court.

Will Jimmy Butler's return to Miami be a redemption story or a bitter reminder of past feuds?
Have an interesting take?
In his 12 appearances, the Heat newbie has averaged 19.3 points, along with a steal and block per game. However, the team’s current condition is not just a concern, it is alarming with ten lost games in a row. So, facing the Warriors will be a tough challenge for them. On the flip side, the visiting team also has its own set of issues to deal with, as they will be without Stephen Curry for this trip. That means Jimmy and Draymond will have to step up, or their spot in the Western standings could become shaky.
