The Warriors are in a tight spot. With time running out, they’re still working to find their rhythm. Even their latest acquisition, Dennis Schroder, hasn’t worked out as expected so far. However, Draymond Green remains confident in Schroder and believes in his leadership qualities as the franchise continues to look for its next move.
Dennis has suited up 12 times for the Warriors so far, contributing 9.8 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 4.8 assists, which clearly hasn’t been enough for the team. But Draymond has vouched for him. On The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis, the Warriors veteran expressed his admiration for his new teammate saying, “I love playing with Dennis on our team.” Draymond mentioned that they already had mutual respect when playing against each other, which only grew with the arrival of the German guard to the Golden State. “Him coming to this team, he brings a feistiness that we need, at the guard spot. He brings a demeanor that we need, an alpha male that doesn’t hurt anyone,” the 34-year-old said.
Not only did Draymond call Dennis the “alpha,” but he also highlighted his remarkable leadership qualities. “Dennis is a leader,” he declared. “Like if there’s a problem, he see it, he go right to it.” Draymond justified his view to his co-host and the audience by recalling an incident. While he couldn’t remember who the opponent was, he believed it might have been Dennis’ first game as a Warrior.

Draymond revealed, “We were sitting on a plane, you know, we go back, he sits at the gambling table with us, and we were waiting to start because he was at the front of the plane talking to one of the players that something in the game. He’s like, no, I’m gonna address that right now. And I just thought that was so dope.” But that wasn’t the only moment that impressed Green.
Apparently, Dennis said something to Draymond during the game against the Grizzlies that stuck with the 4-time champion. “He said to me the other day in the Memphis game, which really changed my focus. I text him after the game. I said, man, I haven’t had a teammate say anything like that to me in years,” Green shared.
The former Nets guard tried to keep Draymond focused by boosting his confidence with, “Keep talking to them. Like we, we at these boys.” Only the choice of words was a little different Draymond said. And those motivational words worked on the forward and helped him bounce back in the second half.
Of course, there’s no denying Green’s observation, but Dennis Schroder hasn’t yet lived up to Dub Nation’s expectations. Despite being aware of that, Draymond believes he will be crucial for the team.

Draymond Green optimistic about Dennis’ impact as Warriors reportedly explore trade option
The main reason for bringing Dennis Schroder on board was to utilize his veteran experience to strengthen an already weakened squad. But with him on the floor, the team has won only five games. However, Draymond feels, “I think he gonna be a big help for us here.”
He believes Dennis just needs a little more time to settle into his new franchise. “He’s still trying to get comfortable.” He backed up Dennis by claiming, “People really don’t understand how hard it is to come to a team mid season and take the ball out of Steph Curry’s hands.” The only problem is, with the season moving into its latter half, the team doesn’t have much time left.

The Warriors are reportedly feeling the need for more assets to become a championship-caliber team again. After allegedly missing out on adding Jimmy Butler, their next target is Nikola Vučević. The Montenegrin center signed a three-year extension with the Chicago Bulls in 2023 worth $60 million. That’s a huge amount for the Warriors, especially considering their limited salary cap space. To make a trade like that happen, they would likely need some adjustments.
So, the team has tough decisions to make. Dennis also needs to step up, especially since his contract is set to expire after this season. Do you think he’ll become a valuable asset for the Warriors this season, just like Draymond believes? Let us know your thoughts!
