To this day, I enjoy watching football more than basketball.” While the remark wouldn’t bode well for a few diehard NBA fans, Draymond Green still didn’t choose to hesitate in revealing his love for the NFL. Similarly to his pal LeBron James, the Warrior devoted time to football before transitioning to the hoop, playing for the Spartans. Years later, his continued interest in the sport allowed him to gain a deeper understanding, which led to him making predictions. A rapper had to find out the hard way about the accuracy of the hooper’s football acumen.

Earlier today, 25-year-old American rapper Symba took to his Instagram account to share a picture. Looking to not place much focus on the breakfast he ordered, he wrote a caption on the pic, “I owe my dog @money23green an apology. Steelers kicked the Raiders a–…”

It didn’t long for GSW’s floor general to reply, highlighting the 32-13 Steelers win against the Raiders, for his 4.1 million followers on Instagram. He wrote, “The delusion was crazy”, accompanied by a praying-hands emoji. Since it is not every day that Draymond Green chooses to gloat when off the NBA court, he might be making the best use of this opportunity.

Green’s response to Symba comes just a few days after it was announced that the hooper is taking his love for the NFL further. Last week, he revealed that he will be launching a new show that will be literally titled ‘Why is Draymond Green Talking About Football?’

Joining him as co-host will be Jordan Schultz, the NFL insider for the Bleacher Report. Instead of going the typical way by partnering with a network or uploading episodes on YouTube, this will feature on Instagram Live, with episodes airing on Thursdays to coincide with ‘Thursday Night Football.’

“A very fun part of this show for me is getting to see the inside work of an insider that I don’t often get to see as a player,” said Green during a recent interview. “I’m excited for people to hear our diverse perspectives coming together to talk football.” It is no secret that the four-time NBA champion has already shown an interest in being an analyst and commentator.

Along with hosting ‘The Draymond Green Show’ since November 2021, Green has been occasionally making an appearance on ‘NBA on TNT.’ Now 34, and with only a limited amount of time left on the NBA court, the hooper seems to be making plans for the future. And what better way to do so than to transition to another sport of his liking?

Looking at the success that he has achieved on the hardwood, we can assume that Draymond Green made the right call when choosing the sport he would’ve liked to pursue professionally. While he cannot play football now, he chooses to cheer for his favorite athletes and draw bold comparisons.

Who does Draymond Green consider his NFL counterpart to be?

Recently, the 4x NBA All-Star was questioned on Sloane Knows, after observing how the Warrior had been discussing NFL games more frequently than before on his show. Sloane wanted to know who he would have chosen as his NFL Player Comparison. Without thinking for too long, the veteran decided to go with San Francisco 49ers Linebacker Fred Warner. After the host made it known that she wasn’t aware of the footballer, Green took it upon himself to enlighten the youngster.

“Fred Warner is the best linebacker in the NFL,” said the Warrior. “He plays for the San Francisco 49ers, and he is a dog. I think Fred Warner.” Similarly to Draymond Green, Fred Warner is known to be the team leader in terms of defense. Within just 4 games of the 2024-25 NFL season, he has managed to record 3 force fumbles, the highest for the ongoing tournament. Having already given his shoutout, the hooper is sure to be keeping a close eye out for Warner as he progresses.
