The Jayson Tatum snub narrative is not leaving Steve Kerr alone! Now, the Celts’ pal has gone public to defend him. Team USA’s mastermind, Steve Kerr, has already received various themes of criticism, including having an agenda, preferring favorites, and prejudice. And what was it ultimately? A roster adjustment to match the opponents’ lineup and strategy. However, Draymond Green has made an addition to his punditry portfolio, skipping all the facts to target his own Warriors boss, Steve Kerr.

Draymond Green called the Jayson Tatum ouster against Serbia “crazy.” He seemed frustrated over JT not playing and he went on to remind Steve Kerr of the player’s accolades, stating, “You don’t not play Jayson Tatum. That man just won the NBA Championship, cover of NBA 2k, cover of Sports Illustrated saying cheers, just signed the biggest contract in NBA history, oh and by the way, your reward is ‘Sit down and don’t play in the first Olympics.'”

Players like Jayson Tatum are glorified to be the future of the NBA, while on the other hand, Kevin Durant is a veteran. His entrance on the court had an immediate effect on Tatum’s minutes. However, Dray requested everyone to roll back their calendars to 2021 when it was portrayed that “KD was passing the torch to JT.” What he was implying here is that the Tokyo Olympics lineup was built around Durant and Tatum. So, the foregone conclusion of that roster setup was that the Celt would go on to continue Kevin’s legacy.

However, after that embarrassing exit from the World Cup at the hands of Team USA’s rivals, the plans seem to have changed. “JT come out and not play, I couldn’t believe that. And not playing him, it was wrong. We all know it was wrong. He should’ve played. He didn’t but he should have played,” the Warrior continued, on ‘The Draymond Green Show’. He was not done with the criticism and went on to target Kerr’s game-specific approach.

Draymond Green demands Steve Kerr to “stick” with a rotation, after Jayson Tatum fiasco

It was only the Jayson Tatum snub that Draymond Green targeted on his podcast. He went in favor of Steve Kerr’s whole policy of matching with the lineups of the opponent but with a condition. Expressing partial disagreement with it, Green said, “Quite frankly, I don’t like it. Like come up with a rotation and stick with it.” Notably, Kerr had already tried to implement his tried and tested rotation in the exhibition games. However, the intention of playing every player created misunderstanding and a high turnover rate.

But the Warriors star was not ready to accept the competence the opponents have developed on the global stage. “These teams aren’t good enough to where we trying to match their lineup. They got to match our lineup. Because we got the best players in the world …So the whole like match their lineup or you know this guy out of the lineup now, I disagree with it, “ Green continued, criticizing coach Kerr’s approach toward the teams in Paris.

What Dray is not getting here is that every player carries different abilities. Team USA athletes have honed their skills to perfection, but all of them are not all-rounders. Moreover, they’ve played against each other for most of their career! Some of them are debutants on the Olympic team. Weirdly, even Stephen Curry is. So the chemistry that is required to bring their A-game is not there and won’t be there for weeks, of course.

At last, the only option is to assemble the pieces of the puzzle that fit with each other for a lineup. And that’s what Steve Kerr has attempted to do with the whole Jayson Tatum scenario against Serbia and then for Joel Embiid as well, in the game against South Sudan.

Did Embiid complain? No.

Well, that’s where we leave you.
