Like That, Push Ups, Taylor Made Freestyle, Euphoria. How many more can you name? The entertainment world has witnessed a brewing rivalry involving Drake and Kendrick Lamar for months now. And it seems LeBron James got caught right in the middle of it!
King James, who hasn’t openly picked his side in the feud, seemingly gravitated toward Lamar recently. While rumors of a James-Drake rift took over the headlines for a long time, the star rapper has cleared the air with a cryptic post. What was his post?
The Canadian rapper took to his Instagram stories and shared single pictures of Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in their national team jerseys, leaving Bron out. But why did he do that?

Firstly, James was spotted grooving to ‘They Not Like Us’, the poster track of the beef, at Kendrick’s ‘Pop Out and Show’ concert. Secondly, he admitted his “love” for the song when Steph Curry protested against it during Team USA’s exhibition game in Abu Dhabi. Now that the Laker has made it clear, Drake chose to respond.
His post came in right after LeBron James guided Team USA to a thrilling victory over South Sudan in London. While the hoops nation hailed King James for his heroics, Drake left him out of what looked like an appreciation post. The other three stars are presumably his trusted supporters. Shai may have gotten featured because of his Canadian connection with the rapper. KD’s link is another story in itself. But Steph might have won his heart when he openly said, “It’s not the only song in America,” after hearing KDot’s diss track!
However, one can’t help but think about Drake and James’s previous friendship. They had a great bond since the rapper’s early days in the rapping scene. Notably, James even flew down to Toronto for his release party in 2009. More than a decade later, he thanked the NBA veteran in front of thousands of people, saying, “When nobody believed in anything I had going on, that same guy showed up to a release party for a mixtape that was called So Far Gone.” That moment was truly a testament to their undying friendship.
Following that, the duo have linked up quite often publicly. However, after the Lamar-Drake beef, the dynamic between the two friends has evolved.

Have an interesting take?
The famous track by Kendrick Lamar was highly speculated to have become the celebratory anthem of Team USA! That’s because the diss track has been blaring on the loudspeakers after many of the hoopers’ victories, two of the notable instances being after the Showcase games against Canada and South Sudan.
While Steph and LeBron seemed to have made their stances clear, Drake seems to have another companion in that Team USA camp rooting for him.
Is Kevin Durant Drake’s true supporter amidst the mainstream beef?
It’s no doubt that Drake is going through the darkest period of his career. ‘They Not Like Us’ has topped the Billboard Hot 100 Charts, leaving everyone grooving to the track. In fact, many NBA stars apart like LeBron James, DeMar DeRozan, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, and many more attended the ‘Pop Out and Show’ concert, dancing and vibing to the viral song. However, Drake seems to have had a lonely supporter by his side, and it was none other than the Slim Reaper.
Days after the concert, Kevin Durant was spotted at Drake’s Toronto mansion. The star rapper’s Instagram stories revealed that the duo were having a great time, sharing a drink out in the sun. But the duo’s public display of friendship didn’t end there.

Moreover, a few days later, the duo was spotted at the July 4 party at Michael Rubin’s mansion. The billionaire had invited more than 300 celebrities to his Hampton mansion. Drake was spotted at the bash in a white outfit, which is a necessity at the yearly fiesta. TMZ reported that the Slim Reaper was present at the property too.
These instances showcase that KD has seemingly stayed on the Canadian’s side amidst the mainstream rap beef. Their friendship blossomed in 2019 during the NBA playoffs after Durant had consoled the rapper as the Warriors had beat the Raptors in Game 2. “Keep your head up, it’s all right. It’s OK. We have more games to play,” the NBA veteran stated.

Coming back to the present day, interestingly, LeBron James has to play alongside one Drake supporter and another person who’s tired of Kendrick Lamar’s diss track in his quest to win the gold medal for Team USA in the Olympics.
The Slim Reaper is yet to lace up as he is recovering from his calf injury. The team has one more exhibition game against Germany in London before they head to Paris for the big tournament. Will LeBron James respond to Drake’s cryptic post? Let us know in the comments.
