Doris Burke has been covering the NBA for over three decades. The Hall of Fame Broadcaster has witnessed multiple generations of basketball talent, from Michael Jordan to Anthony Edwards. So, she has a fair idea about the level of talent in each era and which generational talent is the best to ever do it.

When asked about her opinion on the 4-time Champion LeBron James, Burke wasted no time crowning the King with the highest honor.

LeBron James is one of the Greatest players to ever step foot on an NBA court. And Doris Burke has witnessed the entire Hall of Fame career of King James closely. So, when Burke was asked to describe LeBron in just one word, she gave a stern reply without flinching. “The best to ever do it. I need more than one [word] for that guy,” Burke said. Despite having witnessed the legendary careers of players like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, Doris crowned LeBron as the greatest basketball player of all time.

Doris Burke also gave her opinion about other NBA superstars. Some notable names include Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, Stephen Curry, and Giannis Antetokounmpo. She was having a hard time describing these talented superstars in just one word. Doris eventually gave in while talking about young Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards. “It is so hard to describe these guys in one word… I can’t stand this one-word association. I need more.” Burke said.

Is Doris Burke the LeBron James of sports broadcasting?

If there is one word that describes LeBron James’ dominant career perfectly, it is “longevity”. And the same word can be associated with the Hall of Fame career of Doris Burke. The 58-year-old has been associated with the game of basketball since she was a little girl. Burke has spent nearly her entire life in the basketball world, first as a player, then as a coach, and finally as a sports broadcaster. Burke entered the broadcasting world in 1990 when she started calling Providence College’s basketball games on the radio.

Doris was also a part of the announcing team during the WNBA’s first season in 1997. That was a huge achievement for her. Since then, Doris has been an NBA analyst, a sideline reporter, and a commentator. She has done it all. Doris also became the first woman to cover the NBA Finals in 2020, inside the NBA Bubble. Burke has broken barriers for women in the sports broadcasting world, and she is one of the GOATs. So, deeming her the LeBron James of sports broadcasting seems like a fitting comparison.
