Jimmy Butler has only one year left on his Miami Heat contract and is looking for an extension. However, a stalemate lies here between him and the Heat front office. Apparently, the Heat forward will be turning 35 years old next year. Therefore, it might get tough for Erik Spoelstra to take such a risk when the team needs a young superstar. With such strong assumptions, the 34-year-old was expected to go with the New York Knicks, considering his past relations with the coach. However, the ground reality might differ, as a Knicks expert revealed today while appearing on a podcast.

Speaking on ‘The Knicks Film School Podcast,’ NBA insider for Knicks, Ian Begley expressed, “I can’t see it… I don’t think he is the guy that the Knicks say ‘let’s throw all our chips on the table.” So, for Ian, the only reason that the Knicks might pick up Jimmy would be for his star power, not for his ability to deliver on-court. It does seem reasonable, though, as the future ahead of Jimmy lies full of injuries and bench time during the games. That’s why Ian said, ” I don’t think he’s[Jimmy] that guy” who can bring back a team from a tough spot, considering Butler’s current form.

For now, it seems that Jimmy Butler is far from getting the reported $113 million two-year extension he seeks. Moreover, there are roads ahead for the Heat Star. The first option is the Philadelphia 76ers, where Butler can unite with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey to wreak havoc in the basketball world. Moreover, the Sixers can also acquire him in the cap space. However, there is no news of the progression of such a scenario. In addition to that, the Athletic’s Shams Charania reported on the Pat MacAfee Show that Butler is not interested in leaving Miami.

However, there is no news of an extension yet, so Butler is still a trade candidate. Therefore, if the 34-year-old does become available to other teams, the Warriors are also expected to land him on their roster. His presence might fill up the vacuum that is going on due to rumors regarding Klay Thomspons’ exit from the Dubs.

Overall, the upcoming weeks will be full of off-court action in the NBA world, as the changes might be going to be insane. If Butler chooses to pull off the extension, the possibility of the Heat star landing on a different team is still open. Will Butler go down that path? Let us know in the comments.
