Anthony Edwards doesn’t shy away when it comes to a tiff. The Minnesota Timberwolves guard goes all in and leaves no crumbs. For example, during the 2024 postseason, the Ant-Man didn’t even spare his childhood idol, Kevin Durant, as went after him throughout the series. While it purely showed his competitive spirit on the court, the duo had it sorted later at the Paris Olympics. However, the 23-year-old, who recently got recognition for his trash-talk, seemed to have picked up a fresh feud with an All-Star at the Netflix premiere.
In addition to the horde of off-season entertainment, the NBA world has yet another showpiece lineup, Netflix’s ‘Starting 5’. This sports series features superstars like LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler, Domantas Sabonis, and Edwards. On Monday, the crew linked up at the show’s red carpet premiere. While everyone literally linked up at the event, Ant-Man ignored a particular player, and it was the Sacramento Kings‘ big man.
In a video shared by Netflix via X, the players were seen dapping up and hugging each other. Anthony Edwards, who dapped up Butler and Tatum and shared a word with James, completely ignored Sabonis. And it sparked an important question. Did we just witness a new beef brew in the Western Conference?

Moreover, on the other end, a fan was quick to spot the moment and wrote, “Hahaha, I wonder if he and Sabonis have beef, no acknowledgment.” However, it didn’t catch the attention of other fans. Maybe it’s an initial spark of upcoming rivalry in the league. Looking back into recent times, the duo doesn’t seem to have any beef.
How will Anthony Edwards’ beef with Sabonis impact the West?
Before we go into the specifics of the Western Conference, let’s get one thing out of the way. It’s about Anthony Edwards’ insane quality to keep the competition flowing in a game. Yes, it’s his trash-talking skills. Recently, in a viral video clip, Zion Williamson hailed Ant-Man as the “craziest” trash talker. He said, “There are different styles of trash-talking like you have Ant. Ant talks trash kind of directly.”

Now that he already has the tag of a ‘crazy’ trash-talker, let’s find out how it will affect the West if the beef with Sabonis is real. Firstly, Domantas Sabonis put up a career-best stat line of 19.4 points, 13.7 rebounds, and 8.2 assists in the last season. He also held the record for the most consecutive double-doubles (54) in a season since the NBA-ABA merger. Apart from his prime form, the Sac-Town has also included DeMar DeRozan in their line. The ex-Bulls star also came off an impressive season, averaging 24.0 ppg.

With a stacked frontcourt and De’Aaron Fox in the backcourt, the Kings have emerged as a legitimate threat in the West. While the competition has already increased with the advent of Ant-Man’s explosive upgrade, the supposed beef between Sabonis and Edwards will ensure entertainment for the fans.
