The simple, straight answer is that Kevin Durant does not have children. And he has very good reasons for making such a decision, too. “That’s a big commitment for one. I always felt that I was really zoned into my work. Eventually, I do want that. But the older I get, it feels better. I get to know myself more, understand my situation little bit more,” KD confessed to Draymond Green in a 2021 conversation on Chips With Draymond Green.
Of course, it’s been three years since. But it looks like the veteran forward still hasn’t found the right person to start a family with. That is not to say he hasn’t tried his hand at settling down. The most prominent relationship the 2x champ was with former Lynx star and current Phoenix Mercury Assistant GM, Monica Wright.
They were … something of a high school sweethearts. After seven long years of dating, the couple got engaged in 2013. Recounting the night he just got up and proposed to Wright, KD said to GQ’s Zach Baron in 2015, “We was just hanging out, chilling. And I felt the energy. I felt, I need to do this right now. And I just did it. I was like…We’re engaged right now? We’re about to get married? So I was just like, cool! I love this girl.”

However, it wasn’t meant to be. “I didn’t love her the right way,” Durant further admitted. For the two of them to put this much time and effort into a relationship for seven years, even reaching the cusp of marriage, only to decide to split ways showcases that they tried every possible way out there to make the relationship work.
Wright also opened up about what went wrong. “In my last relationship [with NBA All-Star Kevin Durant], I had to make a decision about compromising myself as a woman. I had to make a decision to leave a relationship, which a lot of people thought I was crazy to leave,” she revealed during a conversation with Rizen Magazine.
Since Wright, Kevin Durant has been rumored to have been in multiple relationships.
The Kevin Durant relationship rumors
Perhaps the next publicized relationship rumor must have been during the 2014 MVP’s time with the Warriors. California real estate agent, Cassandra Anderson had been at the forefront thanks to her regular presence in KD’s games. She was there when Durant helped the Dubs to their second straight title, waiting for him in the hallway. In fact, Durant’s interaction was caught on camera as he awkwardly leaned in to kiss Anderson. Moreover, she was also seen sitting in the section usually reserved for the player’s significant others.
Another rumor of almost the same publicity was in 2017 when the 14x All-Star was linked to former Bachelorette contestant, Rachel Lindsay. Her attendance for Game 5 of the 2017 NBA Finals did not help the case, either. However, the same year, the reality star responded to the rumors in a casual conversation with Sports Illustrated’s Maggie Gray. “Here’s the thing. Kevin and I went to UT together. We knew each other, and that’s as juicy as it gets,” she said.
Other than these women, Kevin Durant has been rumored to be in a relationship with pretty much any and every woman he’s seen in public with or poses for a photo. Social media influencers like Brittney Elena, Apryl Jones, Dai Frazier, etc. have been linked to him. More recently, though, 2x Olympic gold medalist Suni Lee was the hot topic, courtesy of a photo she shared on her IG story during the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Interestingly, even ‘Bayou Barbie’, Angel Reese ended up being linked to the 36-year-old, simply because she was spotted sitting next to Kevin Durant, once again, at the Olympics. However, the LSU alum addressed the alleged relationship in her brand-new podcast, Unapologetically Angel recently.
“That was never a thing. I don’t even know how that even became a thing because I sat next to somebody,” she said incredulously. “KD has literally been my favorite player since I was literally a kid. He’s still my favorite player… I love his mom. She comes out and supports the games. So yeah, that was that. I don’t even know where that even came from,” Reese repeated again, clearly baffled by the whole thing.
Well, that’s that. But not too long ago, the ‘Slim Reaper’ did list out a few reasons why he was still single.
Kevin Durant’s candid confession about single life and parenthood
In early April, the 4x NBA scoring champion took to Instagram to upload a graphics in his stories. And interestingly, it featured reasons why he is not in a committed relationship.
- I’m a massive over thinker
- I care too deeply
- I’m a be safe type of guy. Message me when u get home. Have a good night type of guy.
- I have so much energy.
- I give my all to people who don’t give me half back
- I would do anything to make someone happy even if it means I get hurt in the process.
- I need reassurance all the time.
- I’ll push you away when I feel like the energy isn’t reciprocated.

Quite the list he’s got there! But at least, we know the truth of the matter. However, in his conversation with Green, KD also mentioned another reason why he is not rushing into parenthood. “I don’t want him to have to feel like he’s pressured in this bubble to do what I did. I don’t want any pressure for anybody that’s coming into my world to do what I like to do.”
Dray: “Do you ever worry your kid won’t understand who Kevin Durant is?”
KD: “I’m glad he won’t … I don’t want him to have to feel like he’s pressured in this bubble to do what I did. I don’t want any pressure for anybody that’s coming into my world to do what I like to do.”

It’s clear that the man has clear goals for his life and how his future should look like. Hopefully, Kevin Durant finds his soulmate soon. If not a soulmate, at least, the right person for him.
