Is the Knicks' trade of Randle a blessing in disguise for his family and career?

The newest member of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Julius Randle has an abundance of love at his home. Over the last few months, the big man hasn’t had a great time on the court. After suffering a shoulder dislocation, the 6 ‘8 forward’s previous season was restricted to 46 games. And to make things worse, the NY Knicks traded him to the Timberwolves before he recovered it. So, let’s find out how Randle’s beautiful family handles the situation, as we get to know more about them.

Julius Randle entered the league as a Los Angeles Lakers player and at the same time, he was also already in love with his girlfriend, Kendra, whom he later married in 2017. Randle met her in 2013 at her 20th birthday party and slowly blossomed into a beautiful love story. Speaking of their first meeting, Kendra said, “He wished me a happy birthday and thanked me for having him… unusual for the average college guy.”

Three years down the line, in 2016, the couple got engaged and also welcomed their first son, Kyden Randle, in the same year. Kendra had an interesting way of revealing Kyden’s birth when she shared a picture of a baby Lakers jersey with Randle’s name behind it. And when Kyden was 7 months old, the couple exchanged rings in The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, a romantic wedding location indeed!

Speaking of the moment, Julius Randle said, “Seeing our son come down the aisle gave me a sense of completion and fullness, making me proud that our family was becoming one.” A few years later in 2021, the couple welcomed their second child, Jaycey Randle. Once again, Kendra followed her tradition, where she shared a picture of a baby jersey with Randle’s name behind it. This time, it’s the Knicks jersey.

How did Julius Randle’s family overcome the Knicks’ heartbreak?

In the last five seasons, Randle represented the Knicks, consistently averaging 20+ ppg. While it looked like the big man turned into a permanent member of the Knicks fold, the 2024 offseason had a big surprise. Just days ahead of Media Day, The Knicks and Wolves agreed to exchange Karl-Anthony Towns for Randle and Donte DiVincenzo.

Just like the update left Towns shocked, Randle’s family also had a similar reaction. Speaking of the trade, Kendra said, “I’m not going to lie when we heard Minnesota, it was pretty shocking.” Moreover, she also addressed the dark side of an NBA player’s life. She added, Although, we were so ready to leave New York, living in a condo with two kids is so hard. … The hardest part by far was telling our seven-year-old that he had to leave his school and friends… That’s the really hard part about the NBA.” Moreover, she had her own way of dealing with her breaking up with New York City, a photo tribute.

Above all, it’s important to note that Kendra isn’t afraid to speak her mind. For instance, when a news agency reported the couple kissing on the court, Kendra reposted it on her X and wrote, “Slow news day I guess. Both of us grew up in single-parent homes. We never saw our dads respect our mother… I’m so grateful my kids get to grow up watching their dad be the best father and husband.” The two kids are indeed blessed to have such parents around them.
