If you type NBA standings on your Google browser, you see the first five teams of the Eastern Conference. You scratch your heads and wonder where the Milwaukee Bucks are. Later, when you expand those standings, you will see the Toronto Raptors who stay 13th. Of course, personal settings apply! But then when you scroll down, you see the Milwaukee Bucks lying solo in 15th. To refresh your memory, this team won the NBA title in 2021. But what’s occurred to Giannis Antetokounmpo and Doc Rivers this season?
A terrible off-season followed by injuries to crucial players and a lack of solid trades will probably be the golden answer for their decline. Things aren’t looking promising with Doc Rivers in the head coach position, prompting several pundits to analyze the team’s struggles. Kendrick Perkins even reportedly warned Rivers about the potential for a ‘doomsday’ scenario.
In the latest episode of ‘All the Smoke’ with Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes, they welcome NBA champion Kendrick Perkins to give his customary take. He pointed out the dilemmas for the Bucks and became the Nostradamus every Bucks fan wished for. Knowing Doc Rivers from his championship days with the Celtics, Perkins mentioned, “That s–t done, right? Doc, I text Doc before I said about him on TV, moth———r your a– on the clock. You gotta do something Doc. Real Talk.”

Cherishing a warm relationship, Perkins emphasized the roster crises with potential outgoings that can rock the league. Giannis Antetokounmpo wouldn’t enjoy playing on a team laboring to make the playoffs. Losing Jrue Holiday to the Celtics proved costly as he won the title last year.
Hence, Perkins warned Doc, “I have come to your defense so many times but at this point, you didn’t achieve much with the Clippers or Philly. You got to fu—n deliver. And I think if they don’t make it to the NBA finals this year, I could see Milwaukee going in a different direction or Giannis wantin out.”

Kendrick Perkins warns of Giannis’ potential exit pointing struggles under Doc Rivers
If you think about the trades they did, you must think about the scouting reports in the front office. Perkins rightly pointed out the off-season woes, causing the team to lose its grip on the standings. He resumed, “The Bucks ain’t do s–t this offseason. While everybody else was making powerful moves and you watch the Knicks go get Mikael Bridges. You go watch the Knicks go get Karl-Anthony Towns.”
What’s your perspective on:
Are the Bucks doomed under Doc Rivers, or can they turn it around before losing Giannis?
Have an interesting take?
With the Knicks trading in Karl-Anthony Towns, challenging for the NBA title stays on top of their minds. With Jalen Brunson on the side, they have two world-beaters who could change the game on any given day.

Kendrick Perkins also implied, “You watch Philly go make a move for PG. You watch all these teams go out and try to like you know stack it in, just to go and compete if they have an opportunity against the Celtics right? No knock, but Milwaukee went go Gary Trent Jr. and Taurean Prince. Khris Middleton coming off two ankle surgeries.”
The gulf in quality between the Bucks and the other teams extends to another level. They had depth earlier, but the Milwaukee Bucks’ shoddy off-season coupled with injuries made them lick their wounds. Now if they go on and lose Giannis, they hope they get some trade picks to compensate for it. Perkins is right in my perspective. What about yours? Let us know in the comments below.
