It looks like the Mavs’ final postseason leg has some added drama to it, too. Courtesy of a former Dallas player, the internet is abuzz with the latest developments involving Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. Since they won the Conference Finals, in fact, even before, all anybody could talk about was Kyrie Irving and the Cs. One of the most controversial guards, ‘Uncle Drew’, has been in his more than fair share of troubles. On and off the court. And one of them so happens to be with Boston. The Celtics fans don’t like him and they make it known. Even 5 years after he left, they still do. However, there’s a ‘UNO reverse’ card the Mavs faithful could throw.
It was in the middle of all this that Chandler Parsons, who played for the Mavs from 2014 to 2016, came forward with an interesting subject. Just like Kyrie in Boston, the Latvian big man was part of the Dallas squad (2019-2022). Given his affinity for injuries and postseason shortcomings, Porzingis did not find a footing in Dallas. And at the 2022 deadline, he was traded to Washington. However, not before a rumored beef with the Mavs superstar, Luka Doncic. Parsons, in a recent episode of Fan Duel’s Run It Back, said that there was an “actual beef” going on. “Don’t get it twisted, they do not like [Kristaps] Porzingis in Dallas”.
“Luka did not like playing with him. There is an actual beef there where it’s going to be every time he touches the ball, he’s getting booed.” Doncic, for his part, denied all of it, going far as to say that Parsons doesn’t know everything. “That’s why I don’t watch a lot of that. Because people don’t know. I’ve talked to Chandler Parsons maybe twice in my life, so I don’t know how he would know that. Me and KP have a good relationship. I don’t know why people say otherwise,” said the 5x All-Star on Monday.

But how did Kristaps Porzingis react to the whole scenario?
Kristaps Porzingis’ take on the “beef” with Luka Doncic, he deemed it a misconception!
Let’s go a bit back in time. About five months ago, Porzingis joined JJ Redick for a segment in his The Old Man and the Three podcast. After talking to the 7-foot 28-year-old about what went wrong with the Mavs, JJ jumped straight into the “young bull” between Luka Doncic and Porzingis. Kristaps admitted there was something early on. Nevertheless, the two had tried to make things work; only, a lack of communication and maturity kind of got in the way. Fast forward to his recent presser when he was asked what the biggest misconception was about Luka and himself. “I think that we didn’t get along off the court. … that was the biggest misconception.”
The key word here is ‘off the court’. It would naturally lead to the next question- what about on the court? We suppose he already answered that in Redick’s pod. His recent comments, though, show that he is ready to move on from whatever supposed beef was with the two of them. “It didn’t work out. I’m not even thinking about that right now. I’m thinking about the job ahead. We can think about that later.”

He, once again, ended his answer in a way that was open to much interpretation. As the man said, we will have plenty of time to get into the details after the Finals. So, let’s wait for Porzingis to give everybody those insights. Thoughts?
