One of the main reasons behind the Dallas Mavericks’ success and their run to the 2023 NBA Finals is their coach, Jason Kidd. But did you know that Kidd himself was a Maverick player from 2008 to 2011, the same year the team won the NBA Championship by defeating the Miami Heat in a 4-2 series victory? Now that he is a major key in the team, all eyes are on him and his family.

While his on-court skills were undeniable, his personal life was often marred by controversy. This included his tumultuous marriage history. While Jason Kidd’s children choose to remain private, their celebrity status makes it difficult to stay entirely out of the spotlight. Kidd’s eldest son, Trey Kidd, was born in October 1998 and reflects on his father’s talent. Having grown up watching him play, Trey now follows in his footsteps by organizing charity basketball tournaments to raise funds for the community known as “The TJK Classics”.

Meanwhile, Jason who excelled as both a point guard and forward during his time at a prestigious New Jersey private school, is considered an all-time great by his son.”I think he is one of the greatest to ever do it and I am not saying that because he is my dad.” Trey concluded. Perhaps this private life with his mother contributes to Trey’s desire to stay out of the spotlight, despite his philanthropic efforts.

On the other hand, Jason Kidd’s twin daughters, Miah and Jazelle Kidd, live relatively normal lives. College student and influencer lifestyles are evident from their (presumably) Instagram accounts, showcasing regular outings and partying with friends. However, as celebrity children, they rarely find themselves in the spotlight.

Meanwhile, Jason’s youngest son, Chance Kidd, has carved his own path as a baseball player. A 2028 graduate playing for Dallas, Texas, he boasts an impressive record. Interestingly, none of Jason Kidd’s children have directly followed in their father’s basketball footsteps, choosing to chart their own unique courses.

Married twice, Jason Kidd’s first marriage Joumana 1997 ended in divorce in 2007. The couple’s split was highly publicized, with allegations of domestic violence from both sides. Kidd was arrested and pleaded guilty to domestic violence charges in January 2021. As a part of his plea deal, he completed a six-month anger management program. However, Kidd maintained his innocence and claimed the abuse allegations were fabricated. Joumana countersued, accusing him of physical assault that resulted in broken ribs and a head injury. The couple has three children together.

However, Jason Kidd found love again and married Porschla Coleman. They have three children together: Chance (born 2010), Noah (born 2011), and Cooper (born 2017). Porschla also became a foster mother to Jason Kidd’s children from his previous marriage: Trey Jason, and twins Miah and Jazelle. Kidd returned to the Mavericks organization in a coaching role in 2021, continuing his long association with the franchise.
