Ever since LeBron James and Steph Curry teamed up for the Paris Olympics, where they led Team USA to Gold, hoops fans have been buzzing. The only question in everyone’s mind—could we see the duo together on the same NBA team? The Laker himself didn’t help calm the storm either, calling his time with Curry “everything and more.” But public-forum chatter that the 22-season vet could’ve joined Curry in the Warriors has re-fuelled, as Anthony Davis is now weighing in—after hearing about it from his dad, of all people!
Speaking of rumors, things had really kicked off when ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne reported that GSW had made a serious push at last year’s trade deadline to snag LeBron from the Lakers. “Over a clandestine 24-hour window… the Golden State Warriors made an unsuccessful bid to convince the Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James to consider a trade,” they revealed.
But how did Anthony Davis first hear about the wild rumor? In a recent interview with Dave McMenamin, Davis shared the surprising moment. “I can’t remember how I exactly heard about it. I think maybe my dad called me. Something like that,” Davis said and made a surprised/baffled reaction while making the phone gesture with his hand.

However, despite the news, Anthony Davis remained completely unbothered. “I don’t think it affected anything,” he explained. “It was definitely like strange to hear in a sense like the first time [LeBron] had ever been talked about in a trade… But it didn’t happen so.” But AD was clear—trade rumors don’t faze him, and it also didn’t shake the Lakers’ chemistry one bit.

While the idea of LeBron James and Stephen Curry playing together in the NBA is quite fascinating, it’s really not going to happen anytime soon. The King’s focus is still on the Lakers, and his long-term goal- sharing the court with his son, Bronny. So, for now, the popular fan dream of the legendary hoops duo sharing the court again will stay just a fantasy.

During a recent chat with ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Bron shared his memories of playing alongside his long-time rival Curry at the Paris 2024 Olympics. As the Lakers prepared for their preseason matchup against the Warriors, James recalled, “It was everything and more. I was super excited to finally team up with him in a win-or-die type atmosphere.”
The 22-season veteran didn’t hold back when describing the experience: “That’s what it was, being a part of the Olympics. It was everything that I dreamed of and aspired to be a part of—that team, alongside Steph. Great memories. It’s something that I’ll remember from my basketball career for the rest of my life.”
Yet, when asked about the potential of teaming up with Steph Curry again in the NBA, he kept fans guessing: “I have no idea,” leaving room for speculation.
In their storied careers, LeBron and Curry have clashed in 4 consecutive NBA Finals from 2015 to 2018, with Curry’s Warriors claiming 3 out of 4 victories over LeBron’s Cavaliers.
As we all know, they had never shared the court as teammates (barring All-Star games) until the Olympics, where they both played pivotal roles in securing gold for Team USA—LeBron notched a triple-double against Serbia, while Curry’s clutch shooting sealed the deal against France.

Notably, the 39-year-old had hinted that the Paris Games would mark the end of his international career. This means if there’s any chance of LeBron and Curry linking up, it would have to be in the NBA. However, that seems a long shot, as the former signed with the Lakers for two more seasons alongside his eldest boy, Bronny, while Steph remains committed to the Warriors for three more years.
