The Cleveland Cavaliers are gearing up for a matchup against the Detroit Pistons. Coming off a very tough loss, guard Donovan Mitchell talks about how he and his team are ready to do some damage. The Cavs lost to the Blazers in their previous match with just 95 points to their 103. Given that the Blazers no longer have franchise player Damian Lillard, it was clear that the Cavs expected to in that game. It’s understandable why they would feel it in their bones. It’s a “bad loss” and that would be a mild way to put it.

Ahead of their encounter with the Detroit Pistons, Donovan Mitchell has fighting words for his teammates.

Mitchell and co. are stepping on the court tonight with much hope and determination. Their loss to a rebuilding Portland has hit them in places where it hurts. In response to the reporter’s question, Mitchell says, “I think we all hold ourselves accountable for that … I know we can. This is a turning point. So, let’s go! We’ll be fine. We’ll fix it.”

Mitchell’s way of dealing with problems resonates with the entire Cavaliers. To improve, one has to go back to the root and figure out what went wrong, and where. “You have to watch it. You have to analyze different things as a group, individually, how we can be better.”

The major aspect of Spida’s confidence stems from locker room chemistry. Though the loss “stings”, it has made the guys more locked in than ever. Everybody on the team is on the same page regarding how they want to progress. So it’s only a matter of time before they “will be fine“.

But it’s not just the locker room that he has made an impact on. Spida is all about community.

When Mitchell was traded to the Cavaliers from Utah, there were concerns about how he would settle in. But Donovan had no such doubts, even lingering ones. When he heard the news, he was shouting with excitement at the prospect of joining a team with a young core.

“It’s a family atmosphere. It’s a community. And what I mean by that is everybody’s close,” he had said when asked about his excitement. The family atmosphere is not one that he is planning on just keeping inside the locker room. Widely known for his community services during his time with the Jazz, the ‘Spida’ is looking to continue his good works in Cleveland too.

The latest stint in his ‘giving back to the community’ was an unforgettable experience for young local basketball players. Celebrating the launch of his latest sneaker, D.O.N Issue 5, Mitchell decided to invite five basketball teams from middle school. He spent time with them, answered all the questions they had, and went home happy with a pair of his latest sneakers and a ball. It’s safe to say that he is making an impact in Ohio.
