Team USA has been cruising through the group stage of the Paris Olympics 2024. The reason for their unbeatable wins is mainly three names: Lebron James, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry. Despite their age, the NBA veterans continue to perform at the top of their game. On the other hand, the younger generation is grappling with finding consistency in their Olympic journey. Jason Timpf pointed this out in the Colin Cowherd Podcast following Team USA’s win against South Sudan.
“I would argue KD and Lebron and Steph have been the only consistent offensive forces on this team and we have been disappointed by Jason Tatum,” Timpf said. Even though Jayson Tatum did not even clock a second in Team USA’s Olympic debut game against Serbia, he got the chance to prove his prowess against South Sudan. Coming off an amazing championship run with the Celtics, many looked forward to seeing the champ perform but felt let down by the ex-duke product following his latest game. With just four points and five rebounds, Tatum was not able to contribute much to the team.
“Anthony Edwards has given us some mixed results. There has been some good games some bad games.” Timpf added. Although Anthony Edwards has a deep bag, consistency has not been a part of it, at least in the Olympics.

“Ant isn’t a perfect fit for this team because he doesn’t always move the ball on offense, but he does work hard on defense and he is explosive offensively.” Brian Windhorst said on ESPN.
Players like Tyrse Haliburton and Devin Booker have been coming off the bench for a reason. Thanks to Anthony Davis and Bam Adebayo for being a shoulder to lean on for the vets. Additionally, Haliburton had his Olympic debut against South Sudan, but the Indiana Pacers star only had 6 points and one assist in the game, which was not a very star worthy performance, don’t you think?
When compared to these young players in the team USA roster, James, Curry and Durant have been on another level in this Olympics. Wouldn’t it be fair to say that the younglings have been failing the veterans? They need to step up the game, don’t they?
Anthony Davis is one of the most improved players, per Colin Cowherd
It is safe to say that Anthony Davis, along with Bam Adebayo, has been the defensive anchors for team USA in this Olympics. Anthony Davis came into the game against South Sudan riding high after a stellar performance against Serbia defensively and guess what? he maintained that same fire in team USA’s game against South Sudan. With over six rebounds and two blocks, AD was a huge headache for the South Sudan offense.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Jayson Tatum really to blame for Team USA's Olympic struggles, or is it a team failure?

“ You cannot mistake Anthony Davis in a game. Dominant defender. He has gotten significantly more physical to me. I don’t know what happened. He was a rugged finesse player. He goes after people. He attacks players. Now some of this, he is playing against second team guys in this space [Paris Olympics 2024] but he is aggressive against Jokic.” Colin Cowherd said. Davis had six rebounds and six blocks against Serbia in his eighteen minute appearance in the game. He blocked 3 shots in under one minute!

“It does prove young people improve, young people are coachable, young people hear criticism. This is weird because he was already good, but he is one of the most improved players.” Cowherd spoke on Anthony Davis. Maybe the other young players in team USA can follow AD’s footsteps and shake off the rough patch they are going through right now. What are your thoughts on this?
