“I’m thinking about everything but basketball, most likely. Even during the season when I play, this is the oasis. This is where I get to chill.” Stephen Curry had an articulate response to give while describing his passion for Golf. The NBA court is his workplace, but ‘putting’ the ball on the green pasture carries its own thrill for the Warrior. They named him the 2023 recipient of the Ambassador of Golf Award, and the Splash Bro even won the American Century Championship. Therefore, Curry has decorated himself with accolades in his secondary sport too. However, while both the hoop and golf share the same pedestal, he must sort out his priorities.

Yesterday, the crew over at Dude Perfect sat down for a discussion with the 4x NBA Champion himself! Despite the chat happening in the middle of Chase Center, DP asked Curry about his favorite golf courses and even had him play a few rounds right in the arena.

Given Stephen Curry’s liking for both sports, Tyler Toney didn’t shy away from asking him outright: “Would you rather win the Masters or a fifth NBA title?” Not wanting to disappoint Bay Area fans at the Warriors’ home base, Curry chose the diplomatic route.

“Give me five, but that’s a hard question,” said the 36-year-old star. “Five is another elite group. We’re obviously four.” DP’s host, TT, threw in a one-liner soon after that, commenting, “Really, I thought you were totally going the other way with that!” Immediately after Stephen Curry had given his response, the host kicked things up a notch, asking, “So what about winning 6th, or the Masters?” At this point, the hoopster surprisingly stated, “I’d be the only athlete to ever do that, so give me five, (and) then the Masters.”

Held yearly in April, the Golf Masters Tournament is one of the four major championships in men’s professional golf. The fact that it is an ‘invite-only’ event highlights its prominence. Stephen Curry is yet to receive an invitation for the same. The Splash Bro yearned for it so much back in April that he was willing to prioritize the Masters’ invite over securing LeBron James’ all-time scoring record!

Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors are currently on the right track toward securing their fifth title. Doubts may have existed about the franchise’s chances. After all, their troubles in even making it to the play-in series last season, along with losing Klay, may have diminished the confidence. Now, however, the squad holds a 10-2 win record and occupies the 2nd seed in the West.

Despite the season being in the early stages, Stephen Curry is prioritizing the hoop for now. After all, the hoopster has limited time left on the NBA court, and he may prioritize golf a tad bit more when he hangs up his basketball sneakers.

Stephen Curry discusses heading to PGA Tour after NBA retirement: “Invest as much into my golf as I can”

Given that he’s 36 and has already played in the NBA for 15 years, a discussion about ‘when Curry will retire’ happens more or less every single week. The player realizes this as well. After all, over the last few years, he’s been dropping hints about where he could head next. While running for President is an option, Stephen Curry also wants to focus more on the secondary sport that he has been playing since the age of 10. This may, in turn, even lead to him being a part of the PGA Tour!

“I don’t know what the path is,” said Curry in an interview with Golf Digest. “All I know is, when I’m done with basketball, I’m going to reasonably invest as much into my golf as I can to see how good I can get, and where that puts me 14 years from now, we’ll see.”

Golf is no easy sport to master. For Stephen Curry and even Michael Jordan, hitting the ball on the green pasture is a tougher challenge. Therefore, when the sharpshooter has all the time in the world post his NBA retirement, why not spend it getting better at his other passion? Who knows, maybe any improvement he makes will finally get him an invitation to the Golf Masters!
