Victor Wembanyama was finally able to redeem himself after a disappointing performance in the opening game of the season. The Spurs took on the Houston Rockets on their home ground and recorded an impressive win. Playing nearly thirty-one minutes, Wembanyama made his mark on the scoreboard. 

But this is not to say that it was an easy victory. The Rockets put tough competition coming up neck-to-neck the entire match. One person in particular showed that he was out there to put a stop to Wembanyama. 

Dillon Brooks to the rescue

In the third quarter, as the 19-year-old was looking to score, Brooks expertly stole the ball from. He then proceeded to get a lay-up on the other end of the court.  

 

Later he mentioned that his biggest takeaway from playing against the rookie was, “He’s really tall. That’s it.”

Victor on his end gave his best scoring 21 points with 12 rebounds, 2 steals and 3 blocks.

He is slowly beginning to show why he is the most anticipated player of the season. Although he had a rocky start in the first game, the Frenchman is back in the race for the Rookie of the Year award.

The Spurs exhibited impressive performance throughout the game. Shooting guard Devin Vassell scored 25 points, followed by Wembanyama and then forward Keldon Johnson with 20 points.

They were able to regroup well after their previous loss. With this, hopes for the Spurs is on the rise as Victor begins to show his full potential. 

The first quarter was closely contested with four ties and four lead changes. Houston took over from the second quarter maintaining a lead, until they eventually lost it to the Spurs. As the game progressed into overtime, Houston was unable to gain the control back. The Spurs completely took charge from then on.
