After starting 2-10 in the regular season, Dennis Schroder played a big part in the Los Angeles Lakers’ eventual comeback and their journey to the Western Conference Finals. Schroder might have parted ways with the Lakers as he signed with the Toronto Raptors this off-season, but the 6’1 guard did not forget to pay homage to his former teammate LeBron James by destroying his bully, Dillon Brooks.
In the pre-FIBA World Cup tune-up game between Germany and Canada, Schroder embarrassed Brooks with a filthy move.

Fans witnessed a thriller as Canada and Germany matched up in a tune-up game before heading to the FIBA World Cup later this month. With the game tied at 79-79 in the final minute of the match, Dennis Schroder and Franz Wagner orchestrated a 7-0 run to lead the German team to an 86-81 win.

But the highlight of the match came midway through the 2nd quarter when Dennis Schroder was bringing the ball up the court. Dillon Brooks reached for the ball and lost his footing as Schroder dropped him on the floor with a sizzling move, and further embarrassing the small forward in front of all the fans by pointing in his general direction.
Dillon Brooks has history with LeBron James
The Dillon Brooks saga started earlier this year when the Memphis Grizzlies went head-to-head against the LA Lakers in the first round of the playoffs. After winning Game 2 at home, Brooks addressed his mid-game trash talk with LeBron and called him old. He stated, “I poke bears. I don’t respect no one till they come and give me 40.” His comments did not sit well with NBA fans as they did not like him disrespecting the 20-year veteran.

The trash talk backfired on Brooks after he was ejected early in the 3rd quarter of game 3 because of a flagrant foul on LeBron, where replays showed the Canadian elbowing ‘The King’ in the groin. The Memphis Grizzlies went on to get eliminated by LeBron James and Co. in 6 games, and Brooks refused to talk to the media after the loss. After the Grizzlies’ season ended early, they released a statement that they would not resign Brooks for next season. Brooks later signed a 4-year $80 million deal with the Houston Rockets this offseason.
Dillon Brooks was a key piece in the rebuilding process of the Grizzlies, but his actions this year took away all the attention from that. With the Memphis Grizzlies era behind him, Brooks will look to revive his career with the Rockets. It will be interesting to see if he decides to get a fresh start or continues with his antics next season.
