On the 75th anniversary of the NBA league, they made a list of the top 75 players who have ever played in the NBA. And to most people’s surprise, Damian Lillard was a part of that list. However, on the podcast when they asked him about when he got the information of making the top 75 list and what was going through his head, Lillard hysterically replied, “I think the craziest thing about it is I didn’t know it was even a real thing.”
He went on to explain why and said, “Cuz you remember when it came out, I saw multiple people on social media like ‘This my top 75’ like people was just saying what their top 75 was. So I thought it was a trending thing where people was just saying who they think their top 75 players are. And then I don’t even remember who called me it was like I think my guy Lotto who was working with me on my music. He called me up and said ‘Congrats on the top 75′”.
Due to Lillard’s inclusion in the list, many people felt that there were a lot more players who should’ve been there on the list. Players like Dwight Howard, Vince Carter, Dikembe Mutombo, and Klay Thompson, etc. Each of those players had also contributed to massive success for their clubs as well as shown individual brilliance. However, there was a particular analyst who was very unhappy with Lillard being on the top 75 list.

An NBA analyst believes Lillard didn’t deserve to be on the list
While many people were delighted with Lillard’s inclusion on the elite list, several critics, like basketball analyst Doug Gottlieb, appeared skeptical. Gottlieb stated on his Fox Sports radio show that, despite his remarkable career, Lillard has yet to outperform peers like Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and LeBron James in a single season. He also stated that Lillard was not as good as guys like Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo at that moment. He even made a strong statement against Lillard by calling him “the most overrated player in NBA history.”
However, despite all the hate, Lillard’s fans fully supported him and believed that his performance deserved to be acknowledged. And the NBA did that by including him in the top 75 players list. What do you think about the inclusion of Lillard? Do you think he deserved to be on the Top 75 list? Let us know in the comments below.
