Is the NBA's ruling on Gobert vs. Green a sign of bias or just fair play?

Ah, here we go again! Deeming Rudy Gobert the “Worst NBA Player”, Shaquille O’Neal added another chapter to his ongoing beef with the Frenchman. Even many fans agreed with his claim as the clip went viral on social media. But why has the Wolves star turned into one of the most hated players in the league? Well, NBA legend Gilbert Arenas believes that a lot of the hate that comes Gobert’s way is undeserving as he dissected the infamous Draymond Green choking incident and pointed out how the fans turned on Rudy even though he got the bitter end of that deal. What if it was Stephen Curry instead of Gobert?

Sympathizing with Gobert following the Shaq disrespect, Agent Zero said, “He is getting a bunch of hate that really, he ain’t deserve and he just in the right place at the right time. That’s all it is.” However, co-panelist Nick Young remarked that the four-time DPOY does a lot of “goofy sh*t” that results in him getting trolled.

Arenas defended the Frenchman once again by stating the hypocrisy in last year’s Draymond Green choking incident, “Like he’s the only n***a like you get choked out, everybody was like ‘Draymond got five games. That’s too much. Man, that’s too much. All he did was just choke him just for a little bit. He didn’t die!’” Yes, when Draymond got in trouble for putting Gobert in a headlock for several seconds in the middle of the court, many tried to justify his actions because of the hate toward the Wolves center.

But Arenas suggested on the Gil’s Arena pod that the NBA’s decision to suspend Draymond was justified, “If he’d have did that to Steph, 10 years suspension!” Yes, had Green done the same to any other big-name superstar, the repercussions and how people perceived it would have been a lot more severe for the Warriors star.

Draymond Green does NOT regret choking Rudy Gobert

Well, you would think that the five-game suspension that Draymond was penalized with would make him regret his actions on the court. But the former DPOY made it clear last year that that was not the case, “I don’t live my life with regrets. Like I said before, I’ll come to my teammate’s defense anytime that I’m in a position to come to a teammate’s defense.” As per Draymond, he put Rudy in a headlock because the Center grabbed Klay Thompson from behind while he was in a physical altercation with Jaden McDaniels.

Have an interesting take?

“That’s what a team is: you stick together through the good and the bad. And I take that to heart. I take pride in being a good teammate. When I step in here every day, that’s number one on my list – to be a good teammate, number one.” Green remarked. And since then, he has not stopped being critical of Gobert’s game as he took constant jabs at him during the playoffs and even at his four DPOY trophies. Moreover, it seems like the Gobert slander is going to continue regardless of what Arenas believes. Do you think Rudy Gobert gets unnecessary hate from the hoop community?
