New York vs Detroit: Game 2, both out on the court, locked horns! The Pistons are red for revenge; the Knicks were desperate to extend. No, not their usual day at business. Well, they were 18-25 in the first quarter, 31-30 in the second, …… errrrr! No, you are timed out of Google. Probably Pichai was hating the Knicks bottling their chances, or a glitch that unknowingly pressed the cut of fans who were checking the score from their handset. Before you could beat the bush, the series was tied at one game apiece, in the Pistons’ favor. But Google had other plans, its UNO Reverse.

Over the past two and a half decades, Google has become an indelible part of a lot of our lives. So when it faces unfortunate glitches sometimes, things tend to get hairy. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened to anyone trying to look up the Knicks-Pistons score tonight. The search engine initially displayed a card that correctly showed the series as tied at 1 win each. However, fans who missed the live broadcast on TNT and weren’t at Madison Square Garden tonight were in for an odd surprise as they went to check the score the exact online. And no one was really sure what was going on.

But guess what score Google displayed? 94-0 in favor of the New York Knicks! Yes, Google really said the Detroit Pistons didn’t score a single point tonight against the Knicks. And anyone who wanted to dive further into these insane “stats” faced another issue. An error prompt told the user, “Sports data is temporarily unavailable. Try reloading this page or check back later.”

Now, it’s clear that this was a glitch on Google’s end and not an attempt to rewrite recent events. However, the cause of this widespread technical issue remains unknown. Neither Google nor the NBA has commented on it so far.

But do you know who had a lot to say after this went down tonight? Well, it’s fans on the internet, of course! And they had a field day reacting to the glitch that suggested the Pistons had somehow won by not registering a single point against the Knicks. Here are some of the best reactions we came across.

Fans react to chaotic search engine error during Pistons vs Knicks Game 2

As you’d expect, the internet had a field day with this jarring yet hilarious glitch. A portion of the NBA fanbase simply found this whole thing really confusing. Why is it showing pistons won with 0 points lmao I was so confused @google @NBAonTNT,” asked a fan on X. Another was similarly confused and wrote, “Why is my Google gatekeeping the Knicks vs Pistons score 😭😭😭.” Clearly, a lot of people didn’t understand what was going on as the global search engine failed its users in the weirdest way possible.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Google just predict the Knicks' future dominance, or was it just a hilarious glitch?

Have an interesting take?

However, the glitch didn’t confuse everyone. Sarcastic, neutral, or a Piston wryly suggested that this glitch could’ve been an upset Knicks fan’s handiwork. Search Pistons vs Knicks score, must be a Knicks fan working at Google HQ,” they wrote. Consoling the soul? Another agreed, saying, “Google must be ran by Knicks fans because when did this happen? 😂 #NBAPlayoffs.” But even if these supposed Knicks fans at Google exist, they probably still weren’t as upset with tonight’s loss as head coach Tom Thibodeau. The officiating in tonight’s game particularly annoyed him. “I really don’t give a crap how they call the game, as long as it’s consistent on both sides,” he said, lambasting the alleged discrepancy in tonight’s calls.

And many playfully pointed at the Pistons’ first postseason win since 2008 as the cause for the glitch. Google isn’t buying the first Pistons playoff win since 2008,” joked a fan on X. Another agreed, writing, “Google dont even believe it 🤣🤣 #pistonsIn5 🤣🤣.” It’s not difficult to see what they’re getting at. Cade Cunningham’s heroics tonight led the Detroit Pistons to their first postseason victory since 2008. That W came when the Pistons beat the Celtics in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference in a landslide 94-75 victory. It’s a momentous occasion for Pistons fans, even if Google doesn’t “believe” it.

All in all, this was one of the odd things to happen in the NBA this year. Nonetheless, we’re glad this happened early in the postseason when the stakes aren’t as high as they can be. After all, can you imagine the scenes if this happened during Game 7 of the NBA finals? WAR at Mountain View, California!
