After decimating South Sudan in the second round of group play, Devin Booker and a few of his teammates decided they’d use their day off cheering their fellow athletes. And their first stop was at the women’s gymnastics. Armed with an old-fashioned camcorder (obviously!) and rocking a USA sweatshirt, the Suns’ star guard was among the loudest in the stands when Simone Biles soared through the air and landed perfectly, executing some of the hardest gymnastic routines like you or I would do a cartwheel.
Then again, she’s the most decorated artistic gymnast in the world for a reason. Making her comeback after withdrawing from the 2020 Tokyo Games due to a bad case of twisties, the 4’8 Texas native proved once again why she was at the top. The event that Booker attended was the women’s gymnastics all-around final, where she narrowly edged her rival, Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade, to claim the gold.
Recording it all, DBook added a bit of his commentary on the side, as well. And that included a compliment and message for Andrade. “That was a nice one! Shout out to Brazil, though. She did her thing,” he said, just as Andrade finished her floor routine. He posted his vlog on his Instagram account with the caption, “Goat activity🇺🇸.”

With her latest victory, Biles became the oldest all-around champion since Maria Gorokhovskaya did so at 30 in 1952. Rebeca and Simone’s was a back-and-forth with both the ladies taking the lead after each routine. But in the last floor routine, the 27-year-old showcased a near-perfect exercise, leaving the Brazilian with the silver medal.
The final score read 59.131 for Biles and 57.932 for Andrade. Fellow American gymnast, Lee clinched the third spot, taking home a bronze. What about Devin Booker, though? How did he spend the rest of the day?
Family time for Devin Booker
After he made sure he got what could potentially be Simone Biles’ last Olympic appearance, the video immediately switched to an outside view. It showed his sister Mya Powell and a few others, walking towards an isolated section of what seems to be a restaurant with the Eiffel Tower in the backdrop.
Booker was in high spirits as he said in a singsong voice, “dinner with the fam.” His sister, for her part, was busy taking a photo of the Eiffel Tower. Suffice it to say, Thursday evening was family time for Devin Booker. But that wasn’t all. Book took this chance for a little marketing, as well. He was going around different locations in Paris, giving away free pairs of his upcoming “Python” Nike Book 1s.

He even left a signed pair at the Louvre! Whoever found it certainly had the basketball Gods’ full support. Apart from that, he also spent his time watching the skateboarding competition, even meeting a few skateboarders. In the evenings, Book simply soaked in the nightlife, enjoying the sights, and simply being a tourist.

Now that he’s relaxed, it’s time for the 4x All-Star to switch his attention to Team USA’s final group play against Puerto Rico. Simone Biles got her gold, but USAB is still in the race. And Booker is one of the constants that Steve Kerr has had in his constantly shuffling lineups. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates here!
