“On the next level, I know I’m gonna have to create more for myself… I guess just stay tuned.” Devin Booker put the league on notice the moment he got drafted by the Suns ten years ago. Sure, everyone expected him to be a solid player. But not many projected the Kentucky product to turn into the superstar that he is today. Well, Book added another chapter to his legacy last night during the Blazers clash as he surpassed Walter Davis to become the Suns’ all-time leading scorer. And the historic moment brought out a heartfelt confession from his father, Melvin Booker.

Addressing Booker’s loyalty to the Phoenix franchise, Melvin was reminded of Kobe Bryant, “That’s something he always said. He always wanted to stay here. Kobe had a big influence on him. Kobe played with one franchise. I hope we can pull that off and do the same thing here.” Of course, the Black Mamba wore Purple and Gold for the entire twenty years of his career. And Melvin claimed his son plans on doing the same for the Suns.

Well, DB has already spent ten years in Phoenix and achieved great things. Who can forget his dominant run to the NBA Finals four years ago? Moreover, Booker has solidified himself as an elite scorer, averaging 24.4 points for his career. Even last night, he went off for 34 points and hit a deep range three to shatter Walter’s record of 15,666 points. Now that his dad has ensured that Devin doesn’t want to go anywhere else, the Suns will surely get more such historic moments in the future.

Even Mike Budenholzer couldn’t stop praising the superstar guard, as he said postgame, “What a great accomplishment for a great player, for a great human. Think his teammates, the organization, the city, all of us are just thankful grateful for his greatness. He’s one of the greats, maybe the all-time great Phoenix Sun.” Of course, the Suns made sure to make the night memorable for Booker with a touching gesture even though their team lost in overtime, as Budenholzer revealed, “He’s got the game ball. He’s got a great gift from the Suns organization.” But DB’s historic feat might have made an even bigger revelation ahead of the deadline!

As of now, Jimmy has already rejected the idea of joining the Warriors, revealing his unwillingness to re-sign with the franchise. And as per veteran insider Shams Charania, “Around the league, it’s become increasingly clear that where he would want to be long term, stay long term, and commit long term is the Phoenix Suns from everything I’m told.” Of course, the Suns are doing everything in their power to pull off a potential multi-team trade to get their hands on Butler. With only a couple of days remaining before the window closes, we will know soon if they find success in their pursuit. Do you think the Suns can pull it off?
