As we approach the 2023-24 NBA mid-season, the results of the first-round All-Star list have been revealed. The contenders are chosen from the pool of players through voting where fan voting accounts for 50% of the votes and a media panel and NBA players make up 25% each of the total. In the list, we have LeBron James leading the Western Conference among the frontcourt players, while Giannis Antetokounmpo leads the Eastern Conference.
Guards representing the West and East on top are Luka Doncic and Tyrese Haliburton respectively. However, one name is missing from the list and ESPN’s Marc J. Spears is not having any of it. Devin Booker did not make it to the ranking and Spears is joined by a trail of fans who are equally disappointed at the initial results.
Devin Booker is not popular among the fans

Among the frontcourt players, Booker’s teammate Kevin Durant is just behind King James with a little over 1.8 million votes. Booker’s absence from the list has Spears asking, “Confused. Where is Devin Booker?” Sharing solidarity with Spears, a fan responded with a possible reason for the results, “It’s a popularity contest and he’s very unlikable, regardless of how good he is. Plus his team is underachieving massively.”

There might be some truth behind this fan’s remark as it is no secret that the Suns have been struggling to make a major impact this season. With an 18-16 record, they are trailing behind in 3rd position in the Pacific Division. KD’s superteam is not working out, and plagued by injuries left and right, Phoenix will take some time to find a balance.
Frustrated by the results, a fan throws shade on the fan voters, suggesting that they are not competent.
No one under the age of 18 should vote. All star players are all about kids favorite players now and not actual accomplishment on the court.

According to this comment, if fans voted on a likeability scale, Booker would never make it to the list
No one likes him

Booker is known to be an intense trash-talker on the court and puts on an air of arrogance. This could probably be the reason he is not too likable, as suggested by this comment
It’s a popularity vote – he’s a bit of an asshole 🤷♂️

While some are surprised that Austin Reaves made the cut instead of Booker, others attribute it to the Suns‘ small fanbase. Whatever the reason, we cannot ignore the fact that he tends to often get injured, missing significant games. This could be his undoing. Adding to this, the Western Conference is packed with talent, so unless he pulls up consistently to games, it might take some time to see his name on the list.
