The only consistent factor in all the chaos has been the performance of 2-time Finals MVP Kevin Durant. He is single-handedly keeping the Suns afloat in his co-stars’ absence, averaging 31.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.2 blocks.

Watching Durant’s monstrous numbers, a former Sacramento Kings player believes the Phoenix Suns are shaping up to be the same as the Brooklyn Nets, and he compared Devin Booker with KD’s old superstar teammates.

Is Phoenix’s situation the same as the old Brooklyn Nets?

Former Sacramento Kings player Rashad McCants talked about Kevin Durant’s incredible performances in Booker and Beal’s absence during an episode of The Gil’s Arena Podcast. “It just gives me feels of Brooklyn all over again, where he always gonna be one man down, which is right now Bradley Beal,” Rashad said, seeing how Durant is carrying all the load in Phoenix, just like he did in Brooklyn. KD has played every game this season and led the Suns to a 7-6 winning record.

McCants further compared Devin Booker to KD’s Brooklyn teammates, “I look at Booker as either a James Harden or a Kyrie on that Brooklyn team.” Booker is averaging 28.8 points, 9.8 assists, and 5.6 rebounds, in the limited games he has played this season. Unlike Harden and Kyrie’s off-court drama in Brooklyn, the reason for Beal and Booker’s absence has been injuries. But that does not change the fact that Durant is facing the same consequences he was during his Brooklyn Nets days.

Can Kevin Durant continue playing at this level?

Kevin Durant has been one of the best players in the NBA for nearly two decades. His performance this season has been so good that we forget he is 35 years old. KD has been carrying the Suns on his back this season and that can take a toll on his long-term health. It is hard to perform at an MVP level after a certain stage in a player’s career, and that could lead to fatigue and injuries.
