Stephen Curry is a man of many talents. Whether it’s on the hardwood, in front of the camera, or even on the golf course, the ‘Baby-Faced Assassin’ always finds a way to shine. Well, he just added another diverse role to his portfolio by taking on the Assistant GM job for the basketball program of his alma mater, Davidson College. But while Steph created history by becoming the first active player in any US major pro sport to take on an administrative job with an NCAA team, Steve Kerr did not seem too thrilled about it!

Addressing Steph’s new role at Davidson, the head coach said in a recent interview, “If he asks to leave for a game to go scout college, I’ll probably say no. But it is Steph Curry, so I’ll probably say yes. I just hope he doesn’t ask.” Well, the Warriors are in the middle of the season, hoping to win another championship. And Kerr might be afraid of Steph’s focus wavering because of his NCAA commitment. Obviously, his response came with a huge smile, so it is possible that he was not being completely serious.

However, Kerr’s warning has not affected Curry’s excitement for this new venture, as he revealed on The Steiny & Guru Show. “It’s a pretty cool opportunity with myself, Ayesha, the Berman family, alumni from Davidson. This eight-figure pledge that we have committed to both men’s and women’s basketball teams,” he said excitedly.

Apart from the GM role, Steph and Ayesha, along with Matt Berman, who is also a Davidson alum, and his family have started an eight-figure “Curry-Berman Fund” to boost the college’s program.

Steph continued, “For me, I wanted to make sure we had that competitive advantage and be a resource. So, I’m excited about the opportunity… It’s about just supporting my alma mater who I wanted to recreate that experience that I had that I’ve benefited from, the teammates that I got to play for… So, we’re in it for the long run.”

Moreover, it looks like Steph’s arrival has already started rubbing off positively on his college basketball team.

Stephen Curry hyped after Davidson’s huge A-10 win, praises Coach McKillop’s program

While expressing excitement for his new role, Steph also highlighted Davidson’s latest accomplishment, “We just got a big win in the A-10 today against Richmond.” Although the Wildcats have had a shaky season so far, they played incredible against Richmond and beat them by four points. With this win, their record improved to 17-15. Reed Bailey and Connor Kochera were the stars of the game, combining for 47 points. Moreover, getting a win right after Steph was named Assistant GM is surely a positive sign for the college’s program.

Of course, Curry also had great things to say about the team’s coaching, “Coach Bob McKillop, he’s established an unbelievable program, Matt McKillop now the head coach.” While Steph was a player at Davidson, he was coached by Bob McKillop, and the Warriors star played some of his best basketball under him, making an Elite Eight appearance and becoming an NCAA scoring champion.

Now that Bob’s son, Matt has taken over as head coach, Steph is hoping for the next generation to achieve similar greatness and is ecstatic to be a part of their journey.
